Even before the stationery was printed, there were fears that the Department of Homeland Security would one day be politicized. Who imagined that it would happen this quickly, and that the politicizing would occur not in Washington but in, of all places, Texas?
The state that produced a Republican president who made homeland security the nation's top priority has now also produced a scandal that -- if left to fester -- could wind up undermining the federal department created to ensure homeland security.

If the story is factual it is a clear abuse of the powers of the new department. Heads should roll unless we wish to mimic the dems idea of accountability.

This is a complete spin story. All the Democrats are trying to do is take the heat off themselves for running away and not doing their job. As it stands now, they have cost us Texans many thousands of dollars and possibly an extra Session.

The DPS had every right to a) verify the plane arrived where it's flight plan said it would and b) destroy the records afterwards SINCE no criminal activity/no accident/no 'hijacking' or crash had occurred ...
