Inner Mongolia (province) - TOTAL 'probable' case count
Jun 01 (284 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
April 28 (114 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
[abrupt change occurred May 10]
Guandong (province) - TOTAL 'probable' case count
Jun 01 (1511 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
April 28 (1395 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
[abrupt change occurred May 10]   ...vertical scale = 1350 to 1520
Tianjin (municipality) - TOTAL 'probable' case count
Jun 01 (175 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
April 28 (43 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
[abrupt change occurred May 14]
Shanxi (province) - TOTAL 'probable' case count
Jun 01 (448 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
April 28 (243 TOTAL 'probable' cases)
[abrupt change about May 14]   ...vertical scale = 200 to 450

The only way these skyrocketing graphs could flat-line SO ABRUPTLY is China cheating
on their reporting, and to stop reporting any new SARS cases as 'probable'.

Thanks for the charts. I noticed the same thing but did not really think about it critically. Your charts are invaluable.

The reporting makes no sense. They have to be lying, but why? Don't they realize it will just make it worse?

My 70 year old dad "met" a Chinese woman on the Internet and is planning on visiting her. His third wife died and he is lonely. Based on what he sees in the news media, he thinks that the SARS epidemic in China is over. I emailed some articles about Chinese government manipulating the data, but he believes the hype.

If you would be inclined to make some extrapolations and guesstimations based on last known good data, I'd LOVE to see the numbers. I'm guessing you already have. If you'd rather not guesstimate publicly but are willing to share please freepmail me.

Your graphs prove the Chinese are lying. Thanks for the good work.

China should be held to account for this, but political considerations have trumped reason. The media is merely parroting the official statements from China. As usual, FR is way ahead of the media.

We won't know the truth in China unless/until it gets so bad that even a totalitarian regime cannot keep it covered up.

Since SARS is a cold virus that turned nasty, I assume it has at least some seasonality to it. If so, the real test for the Chinese will come this winter.

Statistics lie but--in this case statistics which lie greatly suggest the truth! It's not the Stats lying. Great info---and very troubling.

Thank you for more bad news. With a long haul truck driver coming down with SARS and the fear I have of the Canadian snowbirds spreading it next winter, I think I'll go dig my bomb shelter now. What a bad year we have coming up in the medical side of things.

I am afraid you are right. It doesn't make sense that it would stay that flat.
