Discovering conspiracy is exciting. Its makes terrific TV shows like The X-Files, and great James Bond movies. Political conspiracy makes for great media fodder too. The Clintons have proven an exhaustless source of inquiry. Whether created by Communists or by space aliens, conspiracies keep us intensely occupied.
Discovering conspiracy is such a strong propensity of the human mind that one has to wonder whether suspicion of conspiracy is itself not some Jungian archetype of the Collective Unconscious. Carl G. Jung (1875-1961), the Swiss anthro-psychologist insisted there was memory of common, primordial human experience imbedded in the unconscious of every individual man. So we dont actually invent reality. We merely struggle to remember it.
Do we have an unconscious memory of conspiracy? Did man discover some evil plot during his misty beginnings, and has its memory produced suspicion in all men ever after? Is suspicion of conspiracy inherited in us all?
The human mind does regularly experience something that feels like discovery. Maybe we can say its discovering conspiracy. Its called learning. We start out as rather nescient little infants, and then learn what is really going on around us. Life is continual discovery, in the sense of learning and developing understanding. Oh! So thats whats really happening! is a drone in our consciousness, and an ever present response to reality around us.
But the impetus for discovery can turn nasty.
Jewish conspiracy theories have been thrown at me ever since I started writing pro-Israel articles now and then for FrontPageMagazine. (When the site was reorganized, much of the commentary on my articles was lost.) BadEagle.com has certainly attracted some professional resistance toward Jews and Israel. Im always impressed with the feverish devotion and research offered to convince me of a profound Jewish conspiracy in the world.
One source called KPS Reports, from New Nation News, put it plainly to me:
"I see the so-called Jews as the enemy of humanity."
"And, unfortunately, the West, which dominates the world, is Christian and has bought the Jews' self-designation as God's Chosen."
"If I had life to do over, I would dedicate it to fighting the Jews."
I find this remarkable. It is a conspiracy disposition, but the kind based on personal, emotional, and bodily identity. It beats anything in Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Red-headed League. People that oppose the Jews say the Jews arent even Jews, but Turkish Khazars, usurping the identity of the real Jewsthe white, Anglo-Saxon protestants of Britain.
The amount of effort going into these conspiracy theories against the Jews is increases hourly. Professor Kevin MacDonald sums all that up in his magnum opus, The Culture of Critique. MacDonald is willing to say the Jews represent an evolutionary development in human history in which two elements stand out: community bonding and intellectual superiority. Through these two traits, Jews, though so very small in number, have survived the centuries, and ascended to the heights of power. MacDonald lets Jews be the Jews, and objectively acknowledges their place in the world.
But conspiracy is part of the Hebrew scriptures themselves. Recalling Genesis, the story depicts a conspiracy of the Serpent against the human race. It was a deception about death. (Gen. 3:4). To this day, death remains a major question in the human mind. God did not intend for man to ever die. The Satanic conspiracy was designed to destroy man. Now man not only experiences death, but through his very religion still holds death in question. The Hebrews penned an archetype indeedof an extra-terrestrial conspiracy.
Despite the fact that the Genesis story purports to occur some 2500 years before the first Jew, Abraham (Gen. 11:26, 12:1), lets concede that its a Jewish story. This Jewish creation story begins with a conspiracy, as if conspiracy is the hallmark of human consciousness. Evil came through conspiracy, and man has suspected conspiracies ever since. The pursuit of uncovering conspiracies is fueled by centuries of anger over the first conspiracy. Call it Collective Rage.
But why direct it at the Jews? Why not Satan, or even God?
The Jews are tangible. They are closer at hand. And they can be killed.
For nearly four millennia, Jews have been targeted by social and political conspiracy theories. The human race is plagued with conspiracies, and must have an object for its theories. The Jews are inevitably chosen. Jews have been around the longest as a civilization, always at center stage in world developments. Being blamed is simply the price of their greatness.
The Masons are very similar in both respects, (although freemasonry is obviously of less significance than Judaism), and not surprisingly there are lots of conspiracy theories involving the Masons too.
No, let's not do that, for the simple reason that the Genesis story is far far more than that implies.
} ...Jews have been around the longest as a civilization,
Pure fantasy. This boys problem seems to be that he has written more books than he has read.
Sure I'll go "there", but so far it isn't anywhere.
}For nearly four millennia, Jews have been targeted by social and political conspiracy theories.
Abraham existed less than 4,000 years ago. Jews have existed only since the return of a tiny group of Israelites from Babylonian captivity about 2,500 years ago.
Israelites are not Jews, however a miniscule percentage of Israelites much later became known Jews, so named from the place they previously lived, Judea. Judea was named after the Kingdom of Judah, an alternate name for the Southern Kingdom of Israel. The Kingdom of Judah was named after Judah, one of the long deceased 12 sons of Jacob.
}If you're thinking of China, you may have to go outside a specific religious culture, and you may indeed find a culture that is old.
That met your original criteria.
Indeed, if you are incapeable or unwilling to make the fundamental and elementary historic distinctions between Hebrews, Israelites and Jews there is really nothing furthur to discuss.
