[history]
It was only three words.
But a Catholic cardinal's statement at Georgetown University's May 17 commencement that the family is "mocked by homosexuality" has sparked protests from dozens of faculty members and students.
The brouhaha, which has been publicized on Catholic and homosexual Web sites around the country, pits a liberal Jesuit university against the strict traditions of its Catholic founders.

Georgetown is a CINO (Catholic-in-name-only) institution. This shouldn't even be an issue.

"The listserve said a letter from the dean's office will be sent out to recent graduates and their families 'to affirm the place of LGBTQ people at the Georgetown table and address the hurt the cardinal's comments caused.'" Truth is a terrible thing to some. I seem to recall a Biblical passage which condemns those who look at evil and pronounce it good. That is precisely what we have here.

Georgetown is a CINO (Catholic-in-name-only) institution. This shouldn't even be an issue. Although I never attended Georgetown, I have a very soft spot for that old place.
John Carroll must be spinning in his grave.
When the "vagina Monologues" created problems as it appeared on campus in the early 90s, I knew something was certainly up.
I wish we could go back to the 60s, when the current concept of "tolerance" was first discussed.
Ironically, as with Islam, no accomodation is possible with the pervert crowd. They just cannot accept the fact that they are aberrations.
Tolerance was their original goal; dominance is their present delusion. I wonder how many other people they have hardened into genuine gay-haters (not gay-fearers!) as a result?

Cardinal Arinze is the early favorite to be the next Pope. When I graduated from Georgetown, when it was still as Catholic unsititution, our commencement speaker was Mother Teresa!

pits a liberal Jesuit university against the strict traditions of its Catholic founders. As go our universities, so goes our country..."Roots" was very popular a few years ago...but I guess it depends upon whose "roots" we are celebrating.
To: Publius6961
The students at the meeting conveyed the message that the LGBTQ community does not feel affirmed by the administration as a whole and that we feel like the university has a long way to go before it can call itself a truly accepting place.Just more moral relativism. Acceptance means acceptance of anything. No judgment, no sin.

When will people whp profess to be Christian understand that the nature of belief in Jesus Christ requires acceptance of His Word as God.
It is fine NOT to be Christian, just don't be so arrogant and stupid as to claim one can pick and choose from the Bible.

Th sad thing is Georgetown had to go all the way to Africa to find a Catholic willing to say this...
Catholics in this country need to wake up and realize that our institutions are being quietly stolen from us by a bunch of libs and postmodernists...
By the way -- I know what a lesbian is, and I know what a homo is, and I know what a transgender is, but WTF is a Questioner ??
