The wife of a Chicago firefighter who disappeared from his home in Edison Park early Thursday, after sending friends a despondent e-mail, is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his safe return.
"He's everything to me," Julie Welch said Monday, following a news conference in which she asked anyone with information about David "Scotty" Welch to call 847-650-1079. "I'm not holding up well at all."

Here is the latest update. Far as I know David is still not found. I am calling his engine company tomorrow to see if there is anyway to help.

Sad. What can I do to help? Well, we've been following this since the 24th and I went out driving last weekend to see if we could spot his truck.
He has been spotted, not confirmed, in Indiana. So what all Freepers can do in neighboring states, is write down the description of the vehicle and plate and David's description. One thing not in the article is that he has a Firefighter sticker in his windshield and the cab of the Dodge is extended.
I will know more if I can get some info from his firehouse tomorrow. Thank you!

On a slightly unrelated note--
Anyone here from Edison Park?
I went to Ebinger and Edison Park Grade schools.

My daughter went to Taft and did school plays in Edison Park. I went to Schurz which is considered 'inner city' for Edison Park folx ;) I live 10 minutes from there now. Can you get some news on the firefighter?

Interesting. Mom went to Schurz; older siblings went to Ebinger and Edison Park. Much of the extended family lived down near Humboldt Park.
I don't think I have live connections to the neighborhood any more--we moved to the 'burbs in '51 and I moved out of state in '69.

SAD bump
To: JustPiper
What's known about him? Does he have a chemical imbalance that would cause depression? Is he on medications? Was there an event in his life that triggered this? Is he suffering burnout in his life? What was he like before he disappeared? Did he talk with anyone? If questions like these can be answered like medications, he would need refills and these could be traced.

Thanks for the ping Johnny.
