No great loss. Norinco SKSs are junk, made from stamped parts. I got rid of mine and got a Russian model with milled parts. A much better gun.

This is going to cut into a lot of gunsmiths' business

Most of Norinco's stuff is unreliable junk

Wasn't the Commerce Sec killed in a plane crash in Yugoslavia? I wonder what he knew about this.

I rented one of their semi-autos at a gun range once. It jammed a lot.

"The Communist Chinese are using tens of millions in thousands of Laogai slave concentration camps in Communist China to fuel this trade deficit, just as Nazi Germany did in WW II," stated David Chu of the China Support Network.

People should pay attention to this before getting into bed with China -- this includes good guys like Mitch McConnell as well as the Demoslime.

Personally I'm not real happy about Catholic priests being snatched up by the government, tortured, and executed. Seems to me that qualifies as a human rights violation.

No more SKS's? Do they even make the SKS anymore?

Interestingly, this ban directly aids Ruger, the largest American Firearms manufacturer. The SKS was a direct(albeit cheaper and generally lower quality) competitor of the Mini 30, and I believe that Ruger dominates the mid-price quality auto-loading handgun market (P9x series) that would be in competition with Norinco's knock-off handguns.

Perhaps two goals are being served here:

  1. Cutting off a supply of hard currency to the ChiCom arms industry
  2. Providing economic protection for the US firearms industry

I wouldn't worry to much about WalMart - they probably sell vastly more Rugers, Remingtons, and Marlins than Norincos. It is a sign though that at least one source of campaign contributions to the DNC is being cut off.

Why is a company which says that it is proud to be a part of smalltown America trying to finance the defense industries of Red China? Buying plastic crap from the ChiComs is one thing, but supporting the maker of weapons that may be used in Third World killings of Americans is wholly another. Wal-Mart could use a week-long boycott by small town Americans just to protest.

Focusing on one company, Norinco, is a diversion by the United States.

Norinco is State owned, therefor the sanctions should be against the State, that is China!

Communism sucks and American companies that fill their shelves with communist made products suck.

What an insult for Korean war veterans who fought the Chi-comms and then had to watch American jobs leave this country for theirs.

What it says about America is: we will sell our souls and the Constitution for a discounted price on a purchase.

Yea, that was deep in controversy as well, I heard a report that a doctor doing the autopsy said, Ron Brown had a 45 caliber hole in his head, too perfect to be from the crash. Then suddenly no more news.

No...but people fall for the ol "preban" gimmick and still buy them, buy a Russia, Romanian, or a Yugo. Tickle me Norinco makes Shotguns and pistol knock-offs, there are still some of their M-14 clones floating around too.

My email to W:

Dear President Bush, With the Surpeme Court session getting ready to close, it may well be time for perhaps the most important domestic decision of your presidency: the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice(s). The main reason why I supported you in 2000 and why I wanted Daschle out of power in 02 (and 04) has to do with the courts. I want America courts to interpret law, not write law. During your presidential campaign you said Thomas and Scalia were your two model justices. Those are excellent models. The High Court needs more like them. Clarence Thomas recently said to students that the tough cases were when what he wanted to do was different from what the law said. And he goes by the law. This should be a model philosophy for our justices. Your father, President Bush lost his reelection campaign for 3 main reasosn, as far as I can see. 1. he broke the no new taxes pledge 2. David Souter 3. Clinton convinced people we were in a Bush recession (which we had already come out of by the time Clinton was getting sworn in)

I urge you to learn from all three of these: 1. on taxes, you're doing great. Awesome job on the tax cut. 2. good job so far on judicial appointments. I want to see more of a fight for Estrada, Owen, and Pickering, but I commend you on your nominations. 3. by staying engaged in the economic debate you'll serve yourself well

I have been thoroughly impressed with your handling of al Queida, Iraq, and terrorism. You have inspired confidence and have shown great leadership.

But I want to remind you that your Supreme Court pick(s) will be with us LONG after you have departed office. I urge you to avoid the tempation to find a "compromise" pick. Go for a Scalia or Thomas. Don't go for an O'Connor or Kennedy. To be specific, get someone who is pro-life. Roe v Wade is one of the worst court decisions I know of, and it's the perfect example of unrestrained judicial power.

I know the temptation will be tremendous on you to nominate a moderate. But remember who your true supporters are. I am not a important leader or politician. I am "simply" a citizen who has been an enthusiatic supporter of you. I am willing to accept compromise in many areas of government but I will watch your Court nomiantions extremely closely. What the Senate Dems are doing right now is disgusting, but as the President you have the bully pulpit to stop it. Democrats will back down if you turn up serious heat on them.

Moreover, I think public opinion is shifting towards the pro-life position. Dems will want you to nominate a moderate, but almost all will vote against you anyways. Pro-choice Repubs will likely still vote for you if you nominate a Scalia, after all, you campaigned on it. So Mr. President, I urge you to stick with your campaign statements and nominate justices who believe in judicial restraint, like Scalia and Thomas.

Happy Memorial Day and may God bless you and your family.

Everything they make is junk.
Having the terrorists of the world armed by NORINCO is a big plus.
