She and her son have my sympathies and prayers. I wonder, though, if she'd feel the same if a conservative icon were similarly afflicted.

The superstar's fiercely independent son Jason Gould, 36,....HA ! Fiercely independent??? He's 36 years old ! ! ! He's SUPPOSED to be fiercely independent.
Sheesh.
I didn't notice anything in the article about how he contracted HIV. Gee, I wonder.

Sure, so do I. I may detest Barbra Streisand, but I would not wish this on anyone.

She needs to visit with Magic Johnson.

You can't support gay rights and then at the same time bitch that you can't have grandkids because your own kid is gay.
I don't feel bad either. He is of the age where he knew the dangers yet risked them anyway for his own gratification.

No forgiveness required. I feel bad too. I feel bad for Eliot Gould too. My brother died of AIDS, I miss him every day, it is no joke. He was under 40 when he died. He has missed so much. My sister-in-law committed suicide, she too has missed out on so much. These people were my daughter's godparents, we chose poorly, no? But Adam and Eileen were our fave sibs. I still don't understand why we had to lose them.
Sorry, sentimental moment on a rainy memorial day.

I suppose Barbra's child has had a towering resentment toward her. I'd have to pray long and deeply to get past that.

I didn't notice anything in the article about how he contracted HIV. Gee, I wonder.Uh, it did mention that he came out as gay in 2001. Connect the dots.
AIDS is a horrible way to die. Prayer for him.
Prayer for her as well. I cannot stand her politics, but can understand her pain.

Self-hatred
Weak father figure (or none at all)
Addictive personality
Low self-esteem.
The kid's a homosexual isn't he. (I say "kid" as a remark on his maturity level.)

Oh, yeah. I must've glossed right over that. But I was right!
Maybe if Babs had cut the umbilical cord 20 years ago he'd be a real man and he wouldn't have this disease.
To: modern_orthodox
I don't know that she wouldn't. But her long history of hateful political rhetoric and irrational vitriolic personal criticisms of those who disagree with her makes me wonder if she's capable of compassion and empathy for the sufferings of political opponents.
Her rantings against coservatives and Republicans are generally indistinguishable from posters over at DU, who regularly cheer Heston's Alzheimer's or Michael Kelly's death as just punishments for their conservative views.
