I find the thought that American politics turns on what uninformed emotional air-brains think from a polticial perspective, depressing. Maybe it's just me.

'We cant criticize what the Bush Administration is doing unless we make it clear that the criticism is toward a new and improved approach -we are turning people off

And, they need to have a positive message to boot; just saying something is wrong doesn't hack it.

My money says that any "positive" message they try to put out will be easily discernable as a lie...

....Kerry took a swaggering jab at Bush's most celebrated photo opportunity of late, getting off a riff that might have seemed more appropriate for a V.F.W. hall than before a liberal-leaning audience of women activists. "I know something about aircraft carriers. I've worked with aircraft carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin," he said. "I can't wait to remind this country that landing on an aircraft carrier with a Navy pilot doesn't make up for the lack of an economic plan or a security plan for the United States of America."

This amuses me so......

Every time one of the 9 dwarves bring up the aircraft carrier landing, they remind Americans of what an awesome, inspiring, victorious event it was, and most likely bring in more votes for President Bush's reelection!

Keep it up guys! :o)

Officially, I agree that women should be able to vote.

However, the fact that these Soccer Moms are so fickle, so self centered, so shallow, so short sighted, and so reactionary in their voting habits leads me to understand why the Founding Fathers refused to let women vote.

53% of women voted for Xlintoon the second time. Only 40% of men voted for the SleazeBag. Women are the only demographic that put Xlintoon in 1992 and kept him there in 1996.

I'm unconvinced, at least here.

ECONOMY is still key. Social issues are also key.
Barring a Geoff Fieger candidate, the dems won the dem areas and will continue to do so. The GOP will win the GOP areas. I don't see Republicans winning Wayne County, Washtenaw County or Genesee County anytime soon. I don't see Democrats winning Ottawa County, Kent County, or Livingston County either.

As for Swing areas, Granholm won big with the state employees. She won the more cultural liberal areas like Central Oakland County, and Meridian Township out in the Lansing area. Posthumus overperformed in union areas and cultural conservative areas, particulary Macomb and Monroe county.

For the state rep races, there were little coattails. The dems won the dem areas, the GOP won the GOP areas, and the best organized and well known candidates USUALLY won the swing areas.

Security is an issue, but one of many. If Joe Sixpack is laid off, what's going to be a bigger concern?

I've been perplexed by the constant polls that claim to show that "concerns about terrorism" are low on people's priority list, and certainly lower than "economic issues".

This article is an eye-opener.

"Democratic political consulant Rachel Gorlin agrees, 'We ...are turning people off.'

It must be that 'Eau de Fromage' the Dem Party's been wearing. Better yet, Dems might want to wash their arses before getting them kicked this time.

It's scary when a democrat understands something...

Democratic political consultant Rachel Gorlin agrees, We can't criticize what the Bush Administration is doing unless we make it clear that the criticism is toward a new and improved approach-we are turning people off.'

Democrats don't know how to approach 'National security'. They think they can gain credibility by attacking Bush but people trust Bush and that makes all the difference. They distrust Democrats naturally on national security. They would have to turn the debate into a substantive discussion of ideas, not petty partisan needling and they don't know how to do that.

9/11 has apparently closed the "Gender Gap" for Republicans. What's going on now is that the DemonicRATS are suffering from a "Flight Suit Gap."

The soccer moms were "security moms."

Bill Cinton lied to them about the economy and then took credit for it after it rebounded on its own.

They were security driven all along. The real term that should be used for the ladies trend now is "safety moms."

In this debate, the democrats lose. They've always had a poor history of scaling back defense and national security to get more of money elsewhere to bribe us. It seems that the truth has come back to haunt all of us.

We need to constatntly remind them that Bill Clintoon was offered bin Laden, but turned him down: all in pursuit of the Nobel Peace Prize.
