I find the thought that American politics turns on what uninformed emotional air-brains think from a polticial perspective, depressing. Maybe it's just me.

I hear that. People who think Presidents should get the glory or the blame for their concommitant economies keep telescopes pointed out the window Christmas Eve.

During this next election cycle the Question of the Day will not be: "Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?". This time around it will be: "Are you safer now than you were 4 years ago." The airheads will answer yes and vote Republican.
Now,,, how do you want that Prozac???, on the side, or as a main course?

However, it's been a fact of political life in America for many years now, so we may as well enjoy the fact that for once, these ditzes see things our way.

It is just you.
I mean, I hope you weren't expecting a discourse on the Nichomacheaen Ethics from this crowd.
People almost always vote their basest instincts. The Germans loved Hitler. Gore won the popular vote.

Syndicated talk show host Neal Boortz rails against the XIXth Amendment every now and then for exactly that reason. I'm pretty sure he's serious, and he makes a pretty good case.
That said, Dubya on the deck of the carrier in a flight suit re-broadcast 100's of times nailed the soccer mom vote for 2004. There is no one in the Dems ranks who is going to remove Bush as Alpha Male with that crowd.
