Goodbye Soccer Mom, Hello 'Security Mom' [and they are going GOP]
Time ^ | May 25, 2003 | Karen Tumulty

Republican pollster David Winston was the first to identify the shift from Soccer Mom to Security Mom and he warns 'What these women are looking for is solutions to make their families and children safer.

It's about solutions, it's not about partisan bickering'

Democratic political consulant Rachel Gorlin agrees, 'We cant criticize what the Bush Administration is doing unless we make it clear that the criticism is toward a new and improved approach -we are turning people off.'

It is that kind of impatience with point scoring politics that nettles women like 31 year old Stacy McDaniel, who stockpiles water and canned goods in San Diego, and plans an exit route when she goes to a ball game.

I find the thought that American politics turns on what uninformed emotional air-brains think from a polticial perspective, depressing. Maybe it's just me.

And, they need to have a positive message to boot; just saying something is wrong doesn't hack it.

My money says that any "positive" message they try to put out will be easily discernable as a lie...

I'd rather face soccer moms than security moms. Moms interested in security can be easily bamboozled into believing that socialism is the ultimate in security. They may not understand the long term health of an economy and issues of declining entrepreneurism and personal initiative if "free" medical care is dangled in front of them.

....Kerry took a swaggering jab at Bush's most celebrated photo opportunity of late, getting off a riff that might have seemed more appropriate for a V.F.W. hall than before a liberal-leaning audience of women activists. "I know something about aircraft carriers. I've worked with aircraft carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin," he said. "I can't wait to remind this country that landing on an aircraft carrier with a Navy pilot doesn't make up for the lack of an economic plan or a security plan for the United States of America."

This amuses me so......

Every time one of the 9 dwarves bring up the aircraft carrier landing, they remind Americans of what an awesome, inspiring, victorious event it was, and most likely bring in more votes for President Bush's reelection!

Keep it up guys! :o)

I hear that. People who think Presidents should get the glory or the blame for their concommitant economies keep telescopes pointed out the window Christmas Eve.

Order up the Prozac kiddo. If we can swing those formerly D votes to our side, we will. It appears we can.

During this next election cycle the Question of the Day will not be: "Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?". This time around it will be: "Are you safer now than you were 4 years ago." The airheads will answer yes and vote Republican.

Now,,, how do you want that Prozac???, on the side, or as a main course?

Kerry doesn't have it. That's the guy I want to face. He's like Mikey Dukakis. He isn't really Irish(which I always remind people that are Irish). He looks WEAK. He's an elitist.

He's the prototypical Massachusetts Liberal. The Cambridge type, as opposed to the South Boston type.

Perhaps your fear more a macho hunk like Gephardt. Gotta face it, if Bush's tax plan works, it is all over before it began, and if it doesn't, then well, ring me up later. Guns is almost irrelevant. Subsidized medical care might give some oxygen to otherwise asphixiated Dems. And there you have it.

Officially, I agree that women should be able to vote.

However, the fact that these Soccer Moms are so fickle, so self centered, so shallow, so short sighted, and so reactionary in their voting habits leads me to understand why the Founding Fathers refused to let women vote.

53% of women voted for Xlintoon the second time. Only 40% of men voted for the SleazeBag. Women are the only demographic that put Xlintoon in 1992 and kept him there in 1996.

Besides which he resembles a Bassett hound, and has a very strange wife....... :o)

I'm with you, though. I'd love for Bush to face him, but right now, he's trailing the President in the polls IN MASSACHUSETTS!! He doesn't have a prayer!

He's the ... The Cambridge type,

So, he's got the same liability that H.W. had? A Brahman, out of touch with the average guy.

And don't think Dubya couldn't leverage that perception like he leveraged the debates into making women think Gore was a bully.

Yeah, many women are "fickle" and many men are "bullheaded". So, the union socialist guys won't budge even if their candidate is a commie or a made Mafia man and the soccer moms are airheads. I say it all evens out.

Married women vote like married men.

Single women are the ones with the tendency to vote for sleazebags and liars.
