We had a thunderstorm cell come through here earlier, and radar shows just a couple of cells in the area (I live about 7 miles south of the speedway). Mostly cloudy right now, temps in the mid 70s. It rained most of last night so it's quite humid.

can someone tell me what the red green and white color over the car numbers mean?

Jammed traffic on I-85 north about six miles south of the speedway.

I'm not sure about that red white and blue you're seeing, where are you seeing it at?
And Yup, Fox is the place to watch starting at 2PM PT. (except in the Bay Area where the Giants override Nascar,, channel 36 instead.. Go Figure!)

sorry i didn't go to the proper string... when they showed the final order for the 500, as the cars crossed the finishing line, and the car numbers came up on the screen, the first 2-3 had red backgrouds the next green two more red then a white it was so weird. what is that about???

OK I'm going to Albertson's for Beer and Munchies... anybody need anything? I'd like some of those pre-sliced cracker sized meats they've just started to sell. Those are pretty nifty. I'll pay you back, honest.

no... I don't need anything from the store, thanks.
got pig smokin up a vortex, green #33 beer on the hoof, watching tv out on the patio/lanai/deck, and generally keeping moderately busy with small tasks
you know the drill... boil potatoes for salad, drink a rock, clean a SIG, prep some greens, drink a rock, clean an AR, refill the smoke chips, drink a rock, clean a glock... lather, rinse, repeat...
typical sunday afternoon.

I think the background coloring thing is a lame ABC attempt at re-creating the team/car color scheme, using the darkest/lightest color for high contrast.
Just a guess.

I suspect the SSR will find its niche among the likes of the Ford Thunderbird, together with other vehicles that failed to elicit enthusiasm from the buying public.
If Chevrolet had stuck with their original plan of installing the LS1/M6 from the Camaro/Corvette they would have a player. As it sits, its mediocre power, and high price tag, equate to a vehicle that shall never inhabit my driveway.
Lately Chevrolet has displayed a strong desire to produce vehicles with the SS moniker the buying public doesn't want. Their newly introduced Silverado SS appears doomed to a life of looking pretty sitting on dealer's lots. Then there is that wonderous creation called the Monte Carlo SS... a slap in the face to all the many fine vehicles before it carrying the SS name.
I own two of their earlier SS offerings, and both are fine vehicles. A 1992 454SS truck, and a 1997 Camaro SS. Either one provides horsepower beyond any of Chevrolet's current offerings, Corvette excluded for obvious reasons.
Too bad I dislike Fords so much, their Cobra, Lightning, and Harley-Davidson models provide all the HP and refinement one would expect from a performance oriented vehicle. Chevrolet is asleep while their performance customer base is bailing.
