TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, who is seeking the Republican nomination for Senate, on Thursday denounced what he says are rumors spread by his political opponents that he is gay.
Foley, a five-term congressman, refused to answer questions about whether he is gay, saying his sexual preference had no bearing on his duties as a lawmaker. He accused Democratic activists of trying to derail his candidacy for the Senate.

Personally, I don't think he's gay, but I wish he would point blank come out and say that, if thats the case, I don't see why he's letting them make an issue out of this.

Foley is really pretty cool. He's on local AM radio from time to time talking about issues, and he's right on. I hope he beats Graham decisively.

The rats are desperate! They are the party of the gays, so why try and hurt someone by saying they are gay? I thought they embraced gays, worked for them, believed in them etc. Guess it never occurred to them that by declaring him gay, they might have compelled some bleeding heart liberals to vote for him just to show how PC they are!

Mullah Howell and his Liberal Holy Warriors, only like Gay LIBERALS.
If your gay, and you are Conservative, then the liberal media has every right to have you stoned.
You see, in their world, this all is *Fair and Balanced*...

Isn't it pretty much a well-known fact in Washington that Foley's gay and just no one talks about it? In any case, I think he would make a good nominee for the Senate race.

"When we talk about a candidate for public office, we talk about their record of leadership and their ability to serve," Maddox said. "We do not fire off accusations about their private life."
. . .that is, unless you are a hypocritical Demrat.
Hope the 'rats' in Florida get beaten by their own game. . .

The word is that Graham is very unlikely to run for Senate again.
He's even said that Democrats who want his seat should get organized and "be ready to go".

"Foley, a five-term congressman, refused to answer questions about whether he is gay, saying his sexual preference had no bearing on his duties as a lawmaker."He's gay.
But I thought that the all loving liberals don't care about that. I don't know if this guy is gay or not, and I don't care, so long as he doesn't try to indoctrinate my children. The democrats apparently have a problem with a Republican who may or may not be gay. Rank hypocrites....

They are the party of the gays, so why try and hurt someone by saying they are gay? I thought they embraced gays, worked for them, believed in them etc. The Dems did this to Mark Taylor who was running against Baccus in MT in 2002.
Plus they spun this rumor about Ralph Nader in 2000.
They also whispered in 2002 about a now elected and conservative southern Senator, who happens to be unmarried.

Is he any relationship to that other Foley guy?

Homophobia is alive and well in the RAT party. Where's the outrage of Howard Dean and Richard Gephardt? Didn't Bill Clinton teach us that personal lives are nobody's business? How quickly the RATS forget.

"But I thought that the all loving liberals don't care about that."
They don't, but they figure conservatives do and wouldn't vote for him if that was the case. An approach of stripping support of the challenger instead of building support for your candidate.
To: 11th_VA
Where there's smoke there's fire, huh? RATS don't launch an attack like this unless there's some ammunition.
To: Kuksool
It's alive and well here, too--read the thread about Racicot meeting with the Log Cabin Republicans. Nevertheless, whether Foley is or is not gay is his private business. And, yes, it is hypocritical for the Dems who claim they are not homophobic to do this.
To: 11th_VA
I see Foley is pro-"choice" as well. Seems as if Florida GOP could do better than this.

Plus they spun this rumor about Ralph Nader in 2000.As bizarre as this is going to sound, there is alot of evidence that Nader may actually be asexual, he is celebate, according to everyone who knows him, he neither confirms, nor denies if he is straight or gay, but has compared his "role" to that of priesthood.
