Is President Bush equated with Adolf Hitler in the science-fiction flick "The Matrix Reloaded"?

The question is being asked in connection with a scene in the new movie where images of Bush and the German dictator are displayed during a discussion of evil in the world.

Adolf Hitler

"If they're saying our president is in the same league as Adolf Hitler, then I don't want to see this movie," says Mark Szorady of Rome, Ohio.

The 44-year-old cartoonist tells WorldNetDaily he has no idea if that's the intent of the filmmaker, but his curiosity has been piqued by reviews and online discussions of the blockbuster.

"The Matrix Reloaded" continues the story of mankind's struggle against machines which use artificial intelligence to enslave the human race in a dream world.

TV screens behind Keanu Reeves in 'The Matrix Reloaded' (Warner Bros.)

During the scene in question, actor Keanu Reeves – who portrays the hero "Neo" – is standing in front of a large bank of video screens as he discusses mankind's history with the designer of the computer-simulated world which is called "the Matrix."

Images of wickedness begin to rapidly flash on the monitors, including photos of nuclear warfare and notorious killers.

"When the architect of the Matrix describes the folly of man," Scott Bowles of USA Today says, "look at the screens behind Neo, which show images of a historical monster and a contemporary president."

The historical monster to whom he refers is Hitler, and the president is George W. Bush, as well as his father for a brief moment.

President Bush

"Discussion of evil in the world and flashing the picture of our president. Why?" asks Szorady. "Are they saying he's evil? ... I'd like to see this thing frame-by-frame."

The scene is also sparking chatter on the Internet about possible intended messages.

"If the Matrix films, the most philosophically challenging movies to be produced in a generation, reveal any obvious signs of the politics of its makers, then this subliminal equation (Hitler=Bush?) is it," writes the Today newspaper of the Philippines in an editorial about "Reloaded."

Messageboard threads on Yahoo and Free Republic.com include a host of reactions which span the political spectrum:

Contributors to Free Republic have even posted the images of Hitler and the Bushes from the movie in at least one discussion thread.

A spokesperson for the Warner Bros. studio told WorldNetDaily the company was reviewing the sequence in question to be "accurate" for any comment regarding the alleged Bush-Hitler connection.

Placing presidents in works of pop culture is certainly nothing new for the entertainment industry, as productions have featured both footage of elected leaders and actors portraying real-life officials.

Some have obvious comedic value, like in 1978's "The Pink Panther Strikes Again," where then-President Gerald Ford was lampooned as a stumbling buffoon more concerned with a college-football score than saving the world from a doomsday scenario.

President George H.W. Bush was cast in a less than flattering light during the Irish rock band U2's 1990 "Zoo TV" tour, as fans viewed a host of political images on giant video screens culminating with a caption telling the audience, "It's your world, you can change it."

Meantime, "The Matrix Reloaded" is already among the biggest financial smashes in movie history, grossing $134.3 million during its first four days, nearly matching the entire amount the first "Matrix" collected in its first five weeks.

It's expected to become the most successful R-rated film ever released, needing at least $234.8 million to match the current No. 1, "Beverly Hills Cop."

"I think it will easily do over $300 million," box-office analyst Robert Bucksbaum of ReelSource Inc. told the Los Angeles Daily News.

"If the Matrix films, the most philosophically challenging movies to be produced in a generation ...

Yeah, about as philosphically challenging as a late-night Freshman bull session about reality. In fact, we have not seen such a philosophically challenging movie event since Pinto discussed the nature of the universe with a stoned-out Professor Jennings in Animal House.

The politics of the first movie, The Matrix, is clearly anti-white.

All the "good" people out to save humanity are mixed race or of color (Keanu is mixed race). The only exception is the "good" white girlfriend of Neo who betrays her own racial group which is the “evil” white group. [The idea of the "race traitor" is attributed to the Harvard Professor Neol Ignatiev [Harvard, where Cornel West used to teach]. You can read all about his philosophy of "abolishing the white race" by reading his Harvard Publication Race Traitor ]

All the "evil" people are white. They are represented as fascist, Nazi-like automatons who seek to hunt down and destroy decent or in this case, people of color.

That is the message of The Matrix.

The casting choices [Cornel West] of the Reload [which I haven’t seen] appears to continue on the anti-white subtext.

They love to knock Bush... whatever but he is a conservative and they are the pot calling the kettle black. The democrats and Hollywood progressive leftists are more Nazi than any even moderate republican.

Besides we all know the DNC is so left they have HITLERY as their leader.

Hillary In 2004.

I just read the movie book HULK, there may be a scene with an unnammed President and unnammed hard nosed female National Security Advisor (wonder who this pair could be). Seems the Pres is on the Golf Course during this time of crisis, and when a decision is needed, gives it, but reminds the General it's an election year.

I'm wondering how the movie will portray this scene.

I would like you to ping this to every person that has made prior comments about this sequence.

It's a load of crap, and a waste of time, meant only for the superobservant, and supersensitive.

And I can assure you, the vast majority of filmgoers could care less about it.

My question would be: How many people walked out of the movie during the ridiculous and unnecessary dance sequence and missed out on the good stuff?

I suspect that this will cut a few percentage points off the box office. Can't make it a flop, but five or ten percent will cost them 50 or 100 million dollars, perhaps lead to some bad word of mouth prior to the next installment.

It is not the first time Bush has been compared to Hitler. The Hitler mini-series proved politics in entertainment is the leftist desparation. Look at the movie "John Q" it was a long, anti-gun commercial.

When Hollywood and democratic leftists campare Bush to Hitler, it is no doubt the pot calling the kettle black.

I guess you were better able to keep up with what was going on than I was. I didn't see the Bush images, nor did I hear anything about two matrices. All I heard was that Neo was version 6.0.

The casting choices [Cornel West] of the Reload [which I haven’t seen] appears to continue on the anti-white subtext.

I confess that when I saw the original Matrix, the whole black/white thing went right past me. I didn't notice anything. HOWEVER ... in Matrix Reloaded, you cannot possibly escape the message that you mention. The last human city (Zion) is about 95% black. Very Black. Funky, sweaty, dreadlocked black. They are the good guys (which is fine, as far as it goes). The bad guys are about 95% white. Very White. Button-down suit, emotionless, robots. The dichotomy is overwelming.

I'll also point out that there are some helpful computer programs in the movie who appear within the Matrix as humans. Let's see, the top three helpful computer programs are:
Key maker -- Asian gentlman.
Oracle -- Black woman.
Oracle's body guard -- Asian gentleman.

You could not POSSIBLY make a movie which so blatantly painted People of Color as an evil scourge and threat to humanity, with White people as the only hope of saving human civilization. NO WAY.

I know this for sure, the marxist sentiment is palpable in this film, and that the movie bordered on ridiculous. Lots of Smoke and mirrors, tedious fight sequences....sheesh, I can't even begin to describe how dissapointed I was in this film. Perhaps the worst performance Fishburn has ever given.

Could you give a URL, please.

BTW: I am ticked I wasted three bucks renting "John Q" a leftist anti-gun looong commercial.

The only message that I came out of that scene with the Architect was that there were TWO Matrices. One that has the 'real world' with the AI's and one that Neo and crew lived in.

Yeah, they made it pretty obvious at the end when Neo supposedly left the Matrix, ran out of the Nebuchadnezzar, could "feel" the octopus robots, and was able to destroy them.

They were trying to hint at it, but the conclusion was obvious. Neo and crew were tricked into thinking they had left the Matrix and were back in the real world, but they had actually been moved from one Matrix two another, with the second one a parallel to the real world of Zion, war, etc.

I expect this to come out in the second movie.

--Two simple reasons why the Republicans won and The fully "Progressive" Leftist Democrats Are the Minority.--

1) The DNC and the Clinton King and Queen were effectively told by the American people....

WERE NOT GONNA TAKE,NO! WERE NOT GONNA TAKE IT...ANYMORE

NO MORE LIES, HATRED, CORRUPTION AND EMBARRASMENT!!!

LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO PARTIES AND IT IS A NO-BRAINER AS TO WHY THE DNC LOST!

2)

THE RNC WEB PAGE

THE DNC WEB PAGE

THE DIFFERENCE IS APPARENT...THE RNC HAS CLASS AND MORALS AND AN AGENDA THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT. THE DNC ARE A BUNCH OF CHILDISH, WHINY LOSERS, THAT DO NOTHING BUT BASH OTHERS AND PROMOTE LEFTIST SOCIALIST IDEALS OF PROPAGANDA ON THEIR WEB PAGE!

AMERICA WISED UP AND BOUGHT A HUMONGOUS CONTAINER OF DRAINO AFTER CUTTING THROUGH THE DEMS PLUMB SNOW JOB WITH CHAIN SAWS. THE $HIT HAS BEEN ALL CLEARED!

Look at the movie "John Q" it was a long, anti-gun commercial.

Actually, John Q was an informercial for socialized healthcare.

Anyone with half a brain knows if a man walked into a hospital and took hostages in real life it wouldn't be long before the local SWAT team ended it.

But the film ends with a montage of people (politicians) talking about how we must have socialized medicine.

One of the people featured is Hillary Clinton.

On the other hand, the Hitler mini-series was far more blatant is saying that Hitler came to power in a War against Terrorism which allowed him to disembowel the Constitution and trample on people's civil rights.

I found the Hitler mini-series extremely boring.

Last night the History channel showed a documentary that covered the same time period on Hitler and it was much more watchable.

I probably wouldn't have even noticed it if I hadn't read about it here.

I THINK I know when the Bush pic was flashed up but I really couldn't tell who it was.

Even BEING TOLD WHEN IN THE MOVIE IT IS I suspect about 90% of people won't even be able to find the Bush, or Hitler, pic. Only when it's out on DVD and can be replayed over and over again.

I fail to see how Bush is "compared" or "equated" to Hitler, regardless.

I don't really understand the FR/Conservative cottage industry obsessed with finding things to be offended over. It's pretty clear that people ENJOY being outraged and offended, though. And now we've got an industry to serve those needs and scour the ends of the earth for things to get outraged over.
