I don't know, this course can be real tricky. I think the cut will likely be 140 or 141, but if I had to choose I would say 141 with some of the afternoon scores coming in.

You can take the very best females in most sports, put them in against the males, and the very upper tier of females will perform at what most would call a passable level. They might outperform some of the lower tier males. They might even outperform a few higher level males who are having an off day.

Your last sentence is true, in sports that are head games like golf and bowling. However, if you think women can compete with men at a passable level, or outperform lower-tier males in sports like basketball, football, baseball, track and field and even soccer and tennis, then you haven't played competitive sports.

If she hits 68 she'll be sitting pretty. Tough row to hoe there, though.

Do whatever you feel the need to do. Woods can hit a 1-iron 3ooyds. He did so from a fairway lie at Batusrol. There are par fours of 306 and 307 on the example course. So I guess he can.

But I'll even give you a freebie, because I have a soft spot for people who argue for the sake of arguing without the benefit of facts: Woods wouldn't need to be hitting greens with irons to break 60 on the course in question. There are 5 greens know he CAN drive. There are 3 more that he could putt to after his drive. He would be on all par fives in two, with a wedge on two of those. That makes seven eagle putts, plus 3 easy birdies. After that there are two more birdie-length par fours and 4 short par threes. One of them is 125 yards. I stand by my earlier statement. He shoots four rounds in the 50's here.

How is she going to play better than she did today?

You go, girl!

If she makes the cut, even if it *is* one of the few courses she could do so, she's done pretty well. Better than all but a couple score of men in the world.

So a new generation of girls will grow up playing golf. Sounds good...for a lot of future husbands. ;-)

Maybe she doesn't have to.

At this very moment, she is tied for 68th. That would be good enough to make the cut.

Actually he CAN hit two of the greens with irons, but he does not need to. I will refrain from snickering because I take no pleasure in showing you the facts.

Match her putts-per-round average.

Agreed. And it looks like Sabbatini is now tied with Sheehan for the lead at 5 under through 10.

Woods don't carry a 1-iron in his bag, and I doubt that he'd take your advice to carry one on a push-over LPGA course. ;-)

My bad. I didn't realize they were planning to let the greens grow out and put the flags in the middle like she's used to.

She wouldn't be relying on ball spin but ball trajectory. 5 and 7 woods bring the ball in on a much less accute angle and they would not roll nearly as far. I carry a 5 wood and use it all the time, expecially on longer par 3's in the 190-220 range. The ball drops almost straight down on the green.
