Maybe the Law School semesters run later or differently than the others.Timesink's Law: In times of crisis, relevant web sites will NEVER be able to handle the load.
www.law.yale.edu is dead.

law school dining staff interviewed, thought it was elevator dropping, saw smoke from cieling, evecuated
told by two students, was explosion, saw fireball in room 120
door flew off into classroom
in enclosed section of hallway where exams were being held
very loud, felt as far as mail room on top floor
(Sounds like it was NOT mail rroom!)

I shouldn't say AQ of course, because we don't know.
Just generic terrorism so far.

It would be a lot easier to lay a bomb in a classroom in the building than in the mail room. Unless things have changed since I was a student there, anybody can enter the building. And anybody therefore could enter a classroom.

tow truck towing dodge caravan, ploice broadcast, vehicle suspicious, might just be unknown owner
security, considered high profile location
students off campus
few students on campus, ghost town now, might be reason for no injuries
Yale police run by New Haven ploice, they are securing all buildings, clearing the scene, not being done in panic, no injuries
To: texasbluebell
"Just amazing that no one was injured in this." We don't know if this is true.

When students blew up a building in Madison to protest the Viet Nam war they targeted what they thought was an empty building & killed a janitor. Blowing up a building is a statement. Taking out people with it puts the law on your butt forever.
To: texasbluebell
Local (nbc30) is reporting that the bomb was in the mailroom , which is above a room (120?) in which a final was being taken. Apparently students left that room after final at about 4:30PM, bomb went off some time after that, collapsing ceiling into
(Police towing away a dodge caravan that was parked near the law school, no reason given why it is being towed. Suggested fear of a second device.)

"(Sounds like it was NOT mail rroom!)" Wouldn't be surprised if this was a car bomb detonated outside of the structure itself.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was a car bomb detonated outside of the structure itself. Then why is there no exploded car and no external damage?

It looks like another person has read Al Gore's, "Earth in the Balance."

Taking out people with it puts the law on your butt forever.
When the law finally catches up to you, some liberal judge will go soft on you, if your bomb was a leftist political statement.

A Signal? To the President, or possibly to start other operations? Possible. An astute observation. An easy "signal" to achieve.

"It would be a lot easier to lay a bomb in a classroom in the building than in the mail room. Unless things have changed since I was a student there, anybody can enter the building. And anybody therefore could enter a classroom." Agreed. This is what I've been saying. My first hunch is that this was a CAR BOMB, detonated outside of the building. Second hunch is a bomb detonated inside the building (in a classroom).
To: aristeides
OK, thanks, now I can picture it.
