Rumours at the Democratic National Committee have [Former Ambassador] Carol Moseley Braun mulling a quick exit from the 2004 Democratic Presdiential Primary.
The former Illinois Senator did not stay in Iowa after the debates last Saturday evening and inside the DNC her campaign is said to be in disarray.
'She isn't raising money, she doesn't seem to have any kind of support staff in Iowa or New Hampshire,' says a DNC staffer. 'It is not clear what she is doing.'
Since joining the Presidential race in mid February, Ms. Braun has raised less than $80,000.00, and only recently has she opened office space in Chicago. Braun has also been critized by Democratic strategists for her poor performace on the stump.
'She has no policies, she has no ideas, and when she does talk there seems to be not much going on upstairs,' says a DNC staffer.

Actually....this gives Al a bigger chance in SC...the Dems could be in a real pickle...If Dean wins in Iowa, as could happen....and Geppie a poor 2nd, then in NH...Kerry doesn't win big...and Dean is 2nd....and then in SCAl wins....well....Lieberman is kaput.....and it's wide open..

She was only put into the race to suck votes from Al Sharpton.

You couldn't be more wrong. Those white Democrats in the state are needed to win and they wouldn't vote for her. Actually, she's said she wants to be the DC delegate when the seat opens. She's from there and used to work for Norton.

Sharpton's doing so badly they no longer
see the need for to be in the race to split
off votes form him.
In fact she is ahead of him everywere.

"She was only there to see if see could steal matching funds."
I was figuring the same thing. I wonder if technically you could raise the money to appear viable, get the matching funds to live off of. There must be something about running that is profitable or Alan Keyes and Buchanan wouldn't have done it several times.

I happened to be watching the day she announced her candidacy. Rather than flipping the channel I figured I should stay tuned as the probability that something stupid/funny would happen was exceptionally high. Within about a minute a reporter asked her what her major was in college. No tricks, just a straight biographical question. Her response was, and I kid you not "I don't know, I think it was political science... or maybe it was history. I will find out for you."
Just for the heck of it, how many people out there DON'T KNOW WHAT THEIR MAJOR WAS IN COLLEGE!!?

Donna Brazille, Terry McAuliffe and the DLC sponsored her run to take black votes away from Sharpton. 40% of Democrat voters in South Carolina are black. The plan was to kept her in the race until that primary (February) so Sharpton would not come in third, second or...
gasp... first.
The DLC must have polling which shows either Sharpton is not a threat in SC or Braun is not taking votes from him.

'She has no policies, she has no ideas, and when she does talk there seems to be not much going on upstairs,' says a DNC staffer. He could have saved fifty cents by logging on to FR and finding out what we've known about CMB for several years.

Oh darn, I hope she doesn't quit. She and the Reverend Al make the Dimwit debates amusing.
To: Mister Baredog
The demographics work for her in LA..large, organized black vote....she ran the get-out-the-vote ops that gave Landrieu the win..it's still the most Dem of all the southern states..and she's been taking some less hard-liberal positions lately....she's a smart cookie, and I think the real reason why she hasn't committed to any presidential candidate..they all want her, and she could write her own ticket .....is because Breaux still hasn't officialy announced....

[Lowell Thomas voice and Movietone theme]
And in Iowa the mighty Al Sharpton juggernaut rolled over opposition from Moseley-Braun. Meanwhile, John Edwards was bogged down in the hedgerow country, facing stiff hair opposition from John Heinz-Kerry.

Can't see how this turd got elected in the 1st place. BUT
am disappointed she is about to abandon her race. Should stay around for commedy relief.
To: ken5050
Brazile is a black woman. She won't win in Louisiana.
