The poster does not necessarily endorse nor oppose any or all views expressed by the author - except for one. We must convince the GOP that the sunsetting of the 1994 Sport Utility Rifle Ban is a good idea.

Let's see, Bush is for banning (some) guns.
Bush is for turning a blind eye to illegal trespassers.
Bush is for unprotected borders.
Bush is for big government and skyrocketing budgets.
...help me out here, is he a RINO?

I wonder just one thing: If this bill comes up for a vote and fails, is it an even bigger victory? Can Hassert be trying to knock off more Democrats by energizing gun owners against those who vote for this disgusting legislation? It's certainly not the way I would like to see it done, because once it's on the floor for a vote anything can happen, but does anyone else think this might be part of their thinking?

"Your political games with our freedoms paint you as a coward, a manipulator and a traitor. Its time for you to do the right thing. State your position, and face the consequences like a man."If Bush had advisors like this one, we'd likely be deep into Year Three of President Al Gore's first term.

Admit that you are too cowardly to stand up to Schumer, McCarthy, Feinstein and their weak-minded socialist brethren, because youre afraid youll lose votes. I think she (the author) gets it.

Nope, you are just a simplistic malcontent. How rude.
For someone not interested in gun rights, you do always seem to show up in these gun rights threads (albiet ridiculing gun owners).

How am I being rude?
All I did was make a reply #5 to taxed2death's reply #2, and stated my opinion, and that opinion is that taxed is overly simplistic in his/her political outlook and basically parrot's the usual malontent line.
Tar and feather me, gt, for stating my opinion.

He, like many of his fellow politicians, is not exactly a... patriot.
Got it?

Let's hope "if it reaches his desk" is the operative part of his statement! Perhaps he doesn't expect that to happen.

In my opinion, this article is more of a sign of frustration and anxiety brought out in RKBA fanatics (of which I am one) by the President's statement that he supports the extension ( making permanent)of the Clinton/Feinswine '94 Sport Utility Rifle Ban, than it is an absolute slam of the GOP. We need to marshall a lot of resources to "lean" on the GOP, the Pres. and the Congress NOT to re-up this worthless and unconstitutional travesty. Threats to withold votes/money might go a long way to help the GOP along. So far, all that has really occurred is a few people have opened their mouths and said a few stupid, premature, and perhaps unimportant things. There is still 18 months before the sunset; I think this fight is going to get more and more nasty as we get closer to that date. So, those with a weak stomach should lay in a supply of antacids.

I think this may be the case. Lately, "gun control" has been a great means for picking off RATS.

You wont get a pass on this, Mr. President. Maybe he should push to lift the ban on "Tommy guns" isn't that a curb on freedom. The AWB is a meaningless "bone" for the gun control nuts, let it be. Has anyone found it so bad. Everyone knows it's a phony ban to start with so what's the big deal. All BUSH said is he will sign it if it hits his desk, he's a little busy right now. The only reason this is in the news is so the DEMS can FUND RAISE, the current ban doesn't even expire until next year.

I have to agree. Any Democrats (such as Byrd from West Virginia) that insist on gun control, will have a difficult time explaining this.
At a time of raised alert level, we need all the firemarms we can get.

...help me out here, is he a RINO?LOL! You must be kidding, do you think the perfect guy that you agree with on everything is out there available to run the country with total agreement from Congress. Make yourself a list of the things he's FOR that you LIKE, then pray we don't get a DEMONCRAT like Clintoon or his b*tch wife back in the White House.

A much bigger issue would be the Senate. They don't want to see it over there at all.
Maybe Hastert is playing games with the Senate in exchange for something else? Tax cut maybe?
