Nicely done, had to go to my maritime flag site to translate. My neighbor is a navy veteran, and has his name up in flags.

Wita, I hear what you're saying.

I belong to SAF, CCRKBA, JPFO, GOA, GOC, & CRPA as well (have I left anyone out? $;-)

My point is that no one but the NRA would be getting a return phone call from CNN to be interviewed and refute CNN's obvious lies. They are the 800-lb. gorilla, and the gorilla gets attention, particulary from those who wish it would just up and die.

Yes, the NRA has supported what was, in retrospect, dumb and unconstitutional ideas and legislation. They made the mistake of negotiating in good faith with the gun-grabbers who later proved that "good faith" was not in their lexicon. And the NRA learned, as did we all, that gun-grabbers are nothing but dishonorable creatures who are pathalogical liars who cannot be trusted. And so the NRA no longer does, from their own experience as well as the lambasting that it's members have given it for being so unwary in the first place.

Borttom line, if not for the NRA, America would already be disarmed, or in the throes of Civil War II, which still remains a possibility if we lower our guard and become complacent.

Just my view from the saddle. Stay safe,

Here is the url for the CNN feedback page. Click on the Comment on our anchors and Kyra Phillips and a window will pop up.

And here is my feedback response on their page:

Kyra Phillips' interview of Wayne LaPierre was absolutely unbelievable. She never addressed his well articulated concerns about blatant misrepresentation of the facts in John Zarrella's report on firearms. She simply made denials and attempted to change the subject without ever offering countering information.

I've seen better rebuttals issued by four-year-olds covering their ears and humming. Are Phillips and Zarrella trying to single-handedly increase the NYTimes' credibility by negative contrast?

It's no wonder CNN's ratings are falling.

What people still don't seem to get is it depends on the vote we have in the Congress and the Senate. No gun group makes laws or stops laws. The groups can only encourage lawmakers to do our bidding. It stops there.
We are finally getting the votes we need. The Assault Weapons Bill will prove whether or not we can succeed.
What has changed is, before, Wayne LaPierre might have appealed to CNN "good side" if we didn't have the power to change people's minds. He might have asked politely to have a rebuttal.
Today, we have created a lot of knowledgeable people who know exactly what the media and the libs are doing. Now the ball is in our court. We can lash out at the liars without getting into the same media disaster of repeating the democrat coin phrase "jackbooted thugs".

This has been a public relations shining moment for the NRA, the gun groups and gunowners. They are the victims, handled it with flair and they didn't result to cheap shots. No one can dispute they are on the right side.

The only problem is where is this going to be played. I don't think cities such as Chicago and New York will pay attention. We'll see. We should still call for the firing of the reporter and his bosses.

Thanks for the reply, and SAF, GOA, JPFO, SDGO, RCRC, TRT T-shirt to ya. I'm not sure the NRA has really learned it's lesson, but I'm certainly willing to remain open minded on the subject.

""As to the original story it had a Texas cop fire a preban 30 rd AK-47 at a cinder block and at a "bullet proof" vest. It easily penetrated both of them. Then he pulls out a legal 10 rd AK-47 and misses the cinder blocks BY A MILE!" What this shows is the intellectual dishonesty of the gun control advocates. They are even worse than pathological liars."

And let's not give a free pass to cops who shill for those who would destroy the Constitution.
Without scum like the one cited, there'd only be CNN reporters, and the public is quickly learning to doubt ANYthing they say!

And we all stick by John Zarrella and how credible of a reporter he is.

And we at CNN still can't understand why we are losing audience shares.

Surely there is a clip of the original bogus gun piece somewhere on the net. If anyone finds it, would they please post the URL here?

I (being on vacation where the only news station was CNN) saw the LaPierre interview, as well as the original story (and I damned near threw a lamp at the TV).

I think that LaPierre was very good in his rebuttal, but only to a point. I give him good marks for calling CNN a bunch of intentional liars on this issue, which they certainly are.

The worst part, which I give LaPierre credit for bringing up (to the extent he was allowed to speak) that the FL dasshole police officer fired a full-auto gun, not one of the banned semi-autos.

However, LaPierre botched a critical point. He made a big deal about how banned and non-banned weapons fire the same rounds. True, but irrelevant and, possibly, dangerous. Why? First, the 2nd Amendment doesn't guarantee the right to any particular caliber of ammunition, it guarantees the entire RKBA. By his focus on the ammunition, he detracted from the overall issue, which is that the AWB is illegal according to the Constitution. Second, this is a possibly dangerous position to take because some anti-gun moron is going to say "OK, Wayne, now we're going to ban ANY firearm that fires ANY military caliber EVER adopted by ANY nation." That would shut down Wayne's argument. I don't like the fact that the NRA has emphasized either the caliber issue or the crime issue. The central issue is "Do Americans have the right to keep and bear arms?" The answer is a simple "YES" or "NO." Any mention of crime should only be in passing, as in the following script that I believe LaPierre should have followed:

"Well, Kyra, the whole AWB is illegal - it is in direct violation of the Constitution. The proponents of the bill don't want to discuss this, or their goal of stripping Americans of their right to own firearms. However, even using their irrelevant point that the banned guns were or are used in a large number of crimes, they are dead wrong - just look at the Clinton Justice Department's own report. However, as I said, crime isn't the issue, the right to own firearms is the issue. Kyra, can any of the proponents of this bill explain why Americans of 2003 and the future have, or ought to have, less rights than their parents and grandparents? I say that they can't, and that what they are doing is anti-American and illegal."

FYI, I am a member of the NRA and have been since 1989. I criticize it for being too soft with the anti-gunners on most occasions, and for missing the real issue - our rights. They focus on crime too much, thereby allowing the anti-gunners to control the terms of the debate. If you set the terms of the debate, you win - otherwise, you lose. It is far past time for the largest pro-gun to allow Sarah Brady and Josh Sugarmann to set the terms of this debate.

can we say "remote-controlled pyro charges in side-panel gastanks"?
can we say "shooting a pumpkin with an off-camera 12ga to demonstrate the lethality of large-caliber pistols"?
can we say "perpetual and wilfull ignorance of firearms nomenclature and definitions on the part of the media"?

your description of the "news" piece shocked me with its (CNN's) duplicity... until I remembered the lonnnnnng list of precedents for such games.

The media can seldom be trusted to state facts or tell the simple unembellished truth about anything.
