ITHACA -- Ithaca College's 108th Commencement Exercise saw degrees conferred on 1,350 graduates. One of the commencement speakers, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream co-founder Ben Cohen, was cheered and also booed when he criticized national spending priorities and the war in Iraq during his address to the graduates.

Cohen was booed by some members of the audience when he criticized the recent war in Iraq, and chastised the U.S. government for spending billions more on nuclear weapons and defense than feeding and housing the nation's poorest people...the two former ice cream moguls ...sold their publicly traded company to Dutch conglomerate Unilever in 2000 for $326 million Typical limosine liberal. Attacking big corporations while living in mansions.
If he cares so much about the poor, why doesn't he donate his entire fortune to charity?
"It will be hard because our president has messed up the economy," said Ayana Shabazz, who received her degree Sunday in Spanish, when asked about finding a full-time job.
Face it, young lady. Your degree is in a field only slightly more useful than pottery. Your options are basically teacher (which requires an advanced degree) and translator. And given your political bent, I'm betting you plan on going into teaching.
Lucas Shapiro, an Ithaca resident who graduated from Ithaca's Alternative Community School, said he's lucky. He has a job lined up in New York City as the national youth organizer for the Democratic Socialists of America. "This was the only (job) I applied for," he said.
Geez, this kid is from Ithaca, went to college in Ithaca and became a professional socialist. Who would have thunk it?
Then again, its hardly surprising when one considers a previous article that noted: In most places, youngsters spend their summers camping, or at the mountains or the beach. In Ithaca, they learn how to become social activists.
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

Ummm....newsflash, Ayana: you aren't guaranteed a full-time job when you graduate. And, President Bush didn't mess up the economy. Notice how she says "our president" when she wants to blame something on him.

BWAHAHAHAH! She would've had MARGINALLY better luck getting a job with an English degree. What in the name of all that is good is she going to do with a SPANISH degree? HA!
Figures the nitwit tries to blame her incredible lack of foresight on our Commander in Chief - after all, it's the Ithacan Way, which is perfectly fitting when you're in the...
well, you know.

I imagine that she will take her Spanish degree, hang around on the U.S./Mexico border, and convince incoming illegals to vote for Dims and sign them up to be socialists.

When last year IC made the announcement of Cohen as speaker, there was criticism because apparently IC's policy is to have non-political graduation speakers.
The administration claimed that Cohen was being invited in his role as philanthropist rather than as a political activist.
Another lie, right up there with the administration's claim that they don't take politics into account when hiring professors. This at a school with 94% Democrats and Greens and 6% Republicans and conservatives. See article about a recent study on this subject:

Oh for heavens sake, even the students are irate at these tired old liberals at their commencements. It seems to be worse this year, as many liberals are getting roundly booed by the graduates.
Why should graduates want to listen to the same old negative mantra of these has beens, instead of something uplifting and positive.

Lucas Shapiro, always available for Bush-bashing:
Ithaca College student Lucas Shapiro told the crowd that the college's Student Government Association last week voted by a 3-1 margin to approve a resolution opposing a preemptive military strike on Iraq, on the heels of a similar resolution passed by Ithaca's Common Council.
