PatriotPetitions. US has launched a national campaign entreating our President, House of Representatives and Senate to reject legislation renewing the 1994 Clinton-Feinstein-Schumer Gun-Control Act. Please read this brief description of the campaign and let your voice be heard on this matter. Though House Majority Leader Tom DeLay says "The votes in the House are not there" to renew the measure, Feinstein and Schumer just introduced a bill in the Senate to renew the law, and they will press the House for a roll call vote in the upcoming election year. Unfortunately, President Bush has reiterated that he SUPPORTS the gun-ban -- an affront to the Constitutional right of all law abiding citizens to own semi-automatic sporting rifles for lawful purposes. Feinstein and Schumer even applauded President Bush, saying: "We welcome your support and look forward to working with you to gain swift passage of this legislation. With your assistance, we will be able to pass legislation to continue the ban and help make America's streets safer." "Safer"? For whom? Such laws claim, ostensibly, to protect law-abiding citizens. Of course, only law-abiding citizens comply with these restrictions -- and at their own peril. Criminals don't care if the weapon they are using comport with the 23,000 federal, state and local gun restrictions already on the books. The Democrat's "incremental encroachment" on the Second Amendment is a thinly-veiled strategy to achieve their ultimate goal of gun confiscation, as Ms. Feinstein made clear after passage of her 1994 legislation: "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate...for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in, I would have done it!" Please join fellow Patriots on the frontlines in defense of our Constitutional liberties. Link to -- http://patriotpetitions.us/nogunban.
You cannot transfer pre-ban items here anymore.
What if you owned the pre-ban mags before the ban. I mean, you might be coming back from a gun show in Nevada or some neighboring state, open your trunk when you got home, and realize that you've had this pile of pre-ban mags sitting there since before the ban...
I used to live in the PRNJ, before I got smart and escaped to Texas, Free America. There was (and is) a NJ ban on mags with a greater than 15-round capacity - period. No pre-ban exceptions - you own it and get caught, and you face up to 5 years in the slammer.
I used to go to gun shows in NY State and PA and acquire little pieces of metallic sculpture that caught my fancy. I even ordered some via the mail and had them sent to my NYC office. All of which explains why, when leaving NJ on the way to Texas, I said to my wife (to her horror and surprise) that "now you won't have to bail me out." I owned over 40 "illegal" magazines then, and could've served 200 years. I didn't give a rat's hindquarters, as I was prepared to go to court over it. It irked the Hell out of me that Equal Protection, as provided for in the 14th Amendment, apparently didn't apply to me as a US citizen in NJ. On one side of the "America Starts Here" sign (i.e. the PA welcoming sign put up by the PA governor after NJ gov. Florio shoved the NJ AWB down our throats) I could own whatever I wanted to without restriction, but on the other side - MY side - I was a criminal and a "threat to society."
Buying what I did was my little bit of civil disobedience - you find whatever you want to in your car trunk on a trip back from Nevada - nothing, or a bunch of mechanically interesting metal boxes with springs in them.
The linked site lists the capacity as 8+1. I thought the Garand required the bolt to be open to change clips, limiting the capacity to 8.
I've had two surplus Russian rifles come to me COATED in cosmoline.
The best dissolving agent and remover ?? :: Carbureator cleaner stripped it right off.
Have a boatload of paper towels next to you and for God's sake don't let ANY cosmoline get in your mouth ....

You can't possible be that stupid.
Just for giggles, tell me who Lue Contreras is.
By the way, that "unfired" Danish you own is a service Grade and possibly has Danish or Italian made replacement parts.
Just get both.
i'm the secretary/finance officer of a CMP/NRA/VaSRA-affiliated club and i've NEVER seem a single bad SG ever. (FYI, i am the one who orders, pays for, un-wraps & distributes ALL the garands, ammo & carbines for the club.)
(CPSC buys a LOT of garands, nearly every month.). even the RGs have been nice, so nice that i frequently wonder WHY they are RGs.
several of my members have ordered RGs to RE-barrel to 7.62 NATO and ended up NOT replacing the barrels with 7.62 NATO, despite the $$$$$$ difference in ammo, as the barrels were too good to replace!

the garand is faster to reload over more than 100 rounds, because the m14 mags are so !@#$%^&*()! slow to reload;may i also point out to you that M2 comes already loaded in enblocs, when ordered from DAN's, thus it saves both time & THUMBS!
in any event the garand enblocs are MUCH faster to reload, than M14 mags-the other night i reloaded 400 rounds of M2 into enblocs while watching "the tube" for 2 hours AND ate a CB w/fries at the same time.
make mine GARAND, thanks.

the price is only about 400 bucks, plus shipping.
while shooter2.5 would DIS-agree, the garand is FAR superior to the M14 in maximum EFFECTIVE range, overall quality, speed of loading & shooting from the prone position.
i just cannot get comfortable with that 20 round mag, sticking out the bottom, when shooting the M14 off a mat.
the ONLY PROTECTED weapons under the SECOND AMENDMENT are MILITIA WEAPONS; it's NOT about hunting DUCKS!
FRee dixie,sw
it's called DIXIE LIBERTY!
FRee dixie,sw
i'd sooner know that name than Lou's, though she IS a NICE lady!
and it's a darn sight more important to us who LOVE the garand!
FRee dixie,sw
Sheesh!
the reason they world's miltary forces are using mostly magazines is they do NOT focus on RIFLEMEN, who fire single WELL-aimed KILLING SHOTS, but rather on firing a GREAT volume of FULL-AUTO rounds in hope of hitting SOMETHING!
during WW2 the USMC RIFLEMEN killed a Japanese soldier with about one shot in six. in RVN, with the focus on SPRAYING out the maximum number of bullets, in the shortest amount of time, the number was ESTIMATED to be NOT MORE THAN one kill in 800,000 rounds!
BIG DIFFERENCE! (should we in this country ever have to defend freedom on THESE shores again, we will NOT have the luxury of SPRAYING bullets;we will desperately NEED selected teams of RIFLEMEN!

This is what you should have (WW II surplus available through the mid '60s mail order - if you could just get one today)
