A Widening Scandal?

May 15 — The New York Times has begun making inquiries into the work of several staff reporters after questions about their work were raised by colleagues and people outside the paper, according to multiple sources at the Times.

EDITORS AT the paper are looking into complaints about fudged datelines, composite scenes and too-good-to-be-true quotes, the sources say.

On Thursday evening, a Times spokeswoman confirmed that questions were being asked in the wake of the Times probe of Jayson Blair, who earlier this month resigned after being accused of plagiarism. “Our Jayson Blair coverage has brought forth a variety of questions and tips that have resulted in phone calls with reporters here on staff,” says the spokeswoman, Catherine Mathis. “The phone calls have produced no information that appears to warrant any action at this time.” Asked specifically about three reporters, Mathis said she could not specify which employees have been contacted “for reasons of privacy.”

New York Times should make public the names of those they are investigating. Let us look for plagiarism and lies. Heck, they could run a contest and award prizes to those who find them first. We all know they are there.

The Times needs to stop with the unattributed quotes until their reputation is clean. Ever notice how the unattributed quotes from conservatives never sound like anyone you know, have ever known or will ever know? Sometimes the quotes sound like a liberals stereotype of a conservative. I'm not saying they make them all up....

if i didn't get the educational discount for the nyt, i would not subscribe!

the other day the san diego soviet union tribune had an editorial concerning the mess at the nyt, and they used the words "accuracy and truth" concerning the sdut!

i almost puked.

anyone that thinks an american newpaper prints the "truth" has got a screw loose!

Oh come on! Maureen Dowd wouldn't lie and she's published in the Slimes. She'll leave out whole clauses within a sentence, to change the meaning of a paragraph she's quoting, but that's just he 'perspective' don'tcha know!

Anytime the NYT quotes good old reliable "unidentified senior White House Officials," we will know they are just making up lies from whole cloth.
