There's an evolutionary reason for that. Unlike less intelligent animals, humans can assess long term consequences for short term behavior. A cave man would lock up his daughter or keep an extra eye on his wife if he knew either were in heat. Because of that, women who had pronounced signs of heat bred much less than women who's heat was hidden. Nature has had to use trickery to get the human female pregnant, and has also given human females the reward of orgasm, something no other type of female animal has.

Before the invention of abortion and the pill, more than half the people born were accidents. The invention and widespread adoption of the pill happened too fast for nature to adapt new tricks. The result is having a profound impact on the gene pool. The smartest women do not have any kids, pretty much capping how smart women in general can be.

I did research for a book I titled Pieces: Why are men & women together (Being the pieces don't fit). We are such different creatures. Just when we think we can surpass and understand one another, we do not and the resentments build. Then we react differently to it, which draws us further apart. I concentrated on interviewing 50 men from many different walks of life, their answers amazed me and made me empathize more. I went to the women's writer guild and many other females. And after all that still no answers. Seeing both sides does not equate getting past the barriers. Communication is key, understanding is fine and good, but resolution is a whole other matter.

Agreed, but you should see some of the other threads on FR, where people try to justify laws forbidding various sorts of consensual sexual behavior by arguing that non-procreative sex is unnatural and perverted. I think the poster in this thread was poking fun at such arguments in other threads.

I have always heard the word "sex" as though it is seperate from the other elements of a human like the spirit and the emotions. I don't know why it must be. I believe it is made by God to bond a man and a woman and it is fueled by passion and all the things which take place when sex is not occurring. When two people have a lot of respect, trust and a great closesness and tenderness, they come together as one because it is a desire. They may procreate or may not. But if not, they at least delighted in the closeness and expression of it and by all means it is beautiful. If something has halted that desire, then it is important to find out what that is so that the two people can continue this bonding.

I beg to differ but women do most indeed on occasion go into "heat" and if they crave to get preggers you can bank on it that their ovulation hormones will set their mind in motion.

Also ironically, the most likely time they are to cheat.
