(According to Sid) Mr. Clintons opponents were evil, wrong, dumb, malign, gob-smackingly corrupt and duplicitous in every single respect, but that the President was noble, grand, progressive, epic and world-historical must, by its very nature, obscure nuance. Sid ought to give Jayson Blair and the NY Times some of whatever he's smoking.

To paraphrase from the Book of Leviticus . . .
"Place not your trust in princes."

His mind was filled with great plans: universal healthcare, reducing the federal deficit, investments in education and the environment, cutting crime, remaking the welfare system, ending discrimination, to begin with." More like his mind was filled with: which intern he would boink on the trip home, which lie to tell Hitlery, how many lines were left in the bullet, and did he have any sharp razor blades.

What an outstanding piece by Andrew Sullivan on the book. It's amazing. I thought I might read it for some honest insight into the "clinton years", but..... given this piece, I find no reason to bother.

Blumenthal's book is reported to be the front-runner for next year's Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

One can conclude that among the vestments worn by the high priest of Clintonism, i.e., Sid, includes a blue dress "autographed" by Bill.

****Its so peaceful, Clinton whispered as he stared at the tomb. His mind was filled with great plans: universal healthcare, reducing the federal deficit, investments in education and the environment, cutting crime, remaking the welfare system, ending discrimination, to begin with."
AND ... paramount ... the capstone of all mental machinations ... "I just can't wait to get a gander at that new interns tatas. I just BET they're positively gravity defying. You can always tell by looking at the a$$. That high butt is the give-away. GAWD! ... you could play canasta on that a$$. HOT DAMN! Just can't wait. Can't wait!"

Remember, Sid is a guy who lied to the press about what was said in his grand jury proceeding. If he lied then, why should we believe what he says in print?

Just like I do with many of the other "clintonistas" I picture Sid with a bit of Bill's DNA dripping off his chin!
The one thing though that really scares more than the fact that Sid breaths air and lives, is that this POS had free access to wander around the White House and other venues of power. What the hell is wrong with this country to put these creatures in such positions of power?

My questions are about Andrew Sullivan. If Sullivan felt this way of Blumenthal, why was he editing him at the New Republic? It seems to me it is like passing on Jayson Blair at the NYT, when do you find yourself culpable?
And this:"Sids retroactive defense is that the enemy was worse. And in a contest between the duplicitous Clinton and the puritanical Starr, the country and the Senate were absolutely right to back Mr. Clinton."
Why is that, Mr. Sullivan? Is it because it was just about sex?
Nice to see Blumenthal dissected but Sullivan got bloody in the process.

His mind was filled with great plans: universal healthcare, reducing the federal deficit, investments in education and the environment, cutting crime, remaking the welfare system, ending discrimination, to begin with."Interesting quote, in that Clinton had NO thoughts that the budget deficit could be dealt with in his terms of office, and that Clinton twice vetoed welfare reform, which was pushed through by Republicans, and only finally signed it when Dick Morris told that he had to do it or he might lose the 1996 election. And Sid said that BJ Clinton said all of these thoughts BEFORE the events took place?!! Sid is as much of a delusional liar as BJ Clinton himself.

Isn't this the Andrew Sullivan who's a flaming, bug chasing, bare backing, badger fancier (homo)?

I heard about this review on Lucianne, and it's very scathing. It's hard to imagine anyone reading the book, let alone enjoying it.

An interesting quote:
"That's why, in the end, this book is worth reading. It's brutally revealing about the stupidity, bigotry, malevolence and extremism of the right-wing forces that became obsessed with president Clinton. I'm glad they ultimately lost."
To: Liz
"Mr. Blumenthal was obsessed with the enemy, and together with his new sidekick, the Gollum-like David Brock"
Seems to me that Sidney from Chicago( a real great place for radicals to spawn- was he a "red diaper baby"?) is the Real Gollum Here.
