As early as Thursday the Justice Department and the FBI will announced the indictment of two men who carried out the attack on the USS Cole which killed 17 United States Sailors more than two years ago, ABC News has learned.
One of the men, Fahd Mohammad Ahmed Al Quoso, may also be linked to the 9/11 terrorist plot, sources invloved in the investigation told ABC News.
Sources said Al Quoso said an operative who would eventally become a suicide bomber in the Cole attack each carried $18,000 in cash money belts to Bangkok, Thailand in 1999, and gave it to Waleed Mohammad bin Attash aka 'Khallad' the alleged mastermind of that bombing conducted off of the coast of Aden, Yemen on Ocotber 12, 2000.
Bin Attash, who was captured in Pakistan last month is believed then to have passed on part of the $36,000 in cash to 9/11 hijackers Nawaf Alhazmi and Khalid Almihdhar during an Al Qaeda planning meeting in January 2000, sources said.

More sloppy writing, but then it is ABC. The men who "carried out" the attack are dead, they died when they set off the explosion the damaged the Cole and killed US sailors. What they mean are men who particpated in the preparation for the attack.
Makes it sound like it was out at sea somewhere, but it was actually in the harbor.
Malkandi came to the attention of authorities after bin Attash was captured in Pakistan in 2003. According to the 9/11 Commission Report, he [bin Attash] told U.S. officials that a man in Bothell, a north Seattle suburb, whose name sounded like “Barzan,” had tried to help him.
Investigators concluded the man was likely Malkandi, who changed his name from Sarbaz to Sam in 2001. They discovered Malkandi had made arrangements for bin Attash, under a pseudonym, to obtain a new prosthetic foot at a clinic in Bellevue in 1999, ICE said in a news release announcing Josephson’s decision....——
Evidence linking Malkandi to Al Qaeda surfaced in 2003 after bin Attash was captured in Karachi, Pakistan, and turned over to U.S. authorities. According to a footnote on page 492 of The 9/11 Commission Report, bin Attash told U.S. officials in August 2003 that an individual living in Bothell, Wash., whose name sounded like “Barzan,” had tried to help him obtain a U.S. visa to enter the United States.
U.S. officials concluded that “Barzan” was very likely Sarbarz Mohammad who was living in Bothell at the time. Sarbarz Mohammad changed his name to Sam Malkandi in 2001.
