XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE MAY 13, 2003 19:48:58 ET XXXXX
EMERGENCY MEETING CALLED AT OLD GRAY LADY; NY TIMES NEWSROOM IN CRISIS
[DRUDGE OBTAINED THIS INTERNAL E-MAIL TO NY TIMES STAFF]
Howell, Gerald and Arthur request that you join your newsroom colleagues at an open forum at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, to discuss the Jayson Blair matter and anything else you might have on your mind. The meeting will be held at the Loew's Astor Theater, the moviehouse just behind The Times on 44th Street at Broadway, across from Carmine's. Doors open at 2:15 p.m.
Please be sure to bring your Times i.d. card. No one will be admitted to the theater without their Times i.d.
You will be able to ask questions from the floor, or write them on cards that will be distributed at the door. In addition, we have set up an email address -- forum@nytimes.com -- where you can send questions, either in advance of the session or afterward.
On Wednesday morning, we will send out a separate email advising correspondents and bureaus outside New York how they may dial into the forum and listen to the session. Unfortunately, because of the short time available to set up the forum, people listening from a remote location will not be able to ask live questions. You may, however, avail yourself of the email address above. If you get questions to us before 2 p.m. EDT tomorrow [May 14], we will put them into the hopper. Otherwise, they will be answered later.

Why not speak your mind and ask a few questions of the New York Times management?

Employees only at the meeting, I see. What are they going to do for their readers?

Fabrications, poor editorial control, blatant bias... I see nothing out of the ordinary here for the New York Times. Why the big fuss?

The question of the day will be, how can we rachet up our skewing of the news to double the levels of today whilst simultaneously minimizing our exposure to charges of fraud?
To: tdadams
The New York Times has been lying for decades. The only problem they see, is that they got caught.

Thanks, but there may be a few people like me who get their first read of FR in the morning, not at 9pm at night, when your linked thread was posted.

Just like the liberals are trying to purge the rat party from anything that isn't purely liberal they will begin this purging in the media also. The battle has spread from congress to its supporters.
The last gasps before the death of liberalism (at least for the next few generations) is taking place.

The New York Times lies. Why is this news?
Clearly the policy is diversity over accuracy. All the news that fits. And it's always been that way at Times Square. The DC chapter is freeping them tomorrow. Our friends in NY should FReep the HQ on 43rd St.
I've sent them about 5 emails with questions. I'll be interested in seeing if I get any answers. If so, I'll share them. Then we can have fun emailing them to dispute their CYA answers.

On Rush's website is a good story on the revolution going on in the media. Rush makes some good points.

I would describe their policy as being ideology over truth, with "diversity" being a component of that ideology.
Thankfully, they won't ask themselves the most important question: "How did we get to this point, and what must we do to regain our former status?"
To: tdadams
On another thread, Drudge is reporting that two more journalists are being investigated for "irregularities."
I am beginning to wonder if what we have is a case of Editors and Journalists in collusion to produce fraudulent reporting. And I wonder too if this is going to turn into a criminal investigation at some point.
To: 17th Miss Regt
Now the Times is only 776 times better than our other fine newspapers in NY. Still 1052 times better than any other daily that I've read in America.
If you ever want to see blatant bias in a newspaper daily pick up a copy of the New York Post and marvel at its ability to devote every page of every issue to editorial content rather than factual content.
