XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE MAY 13, 2003 19:48:58 ET XXXXX
EMERGENCY MEETING CALLED AT OLD GRAY LADY; NY TIMES NEWSROOM IN CRISIS
[DRUDGE OBTAINED THIS INTERNAL E-MAIL TO NY TIME STAFF]
Howell, Gerald and Arthur request that you join your newsroom colleagues at an open forum at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, to discuss the Jayson Blair matter and anything else you might have on your mind. The meeting will be held at the Loew's Astor Theater, the moviehouse just behind The Times on 44th Street at Broadway, across from Carmine's. Doors open at 2:15 p.m.
Please be sure to bring your Times i.d. card. No one will be admitted to the theater without their Times i.d.
You will be able to ask questions from the floor, or write them on cards that will be distributed at the door. In addition, we have set up an email address --
forum@nytimes.com -- where you can send questions, either in advance of the session or afterward.
On Wednesday morning, we will send out a separate email advising correspondents and bureaus outside New York how they may dial into the forum and listen to the session. Unfortunately, because of the short time available to set up the forum, people listening from a remote location will not be able to ask live questions. You may, however, avail yourself of the email address above. If you get questions to us before 2 p.m. EDT tomorrow, we will put them into the hopper. Otherwise, they will be answered later.

Oh, please. If one of your employees violated the alleged public trust so very egregiously, you'd tar and feather him too. Actually I'd consult legal, and fire him without blaring it to other employees...indeed the world.

At least two more NY TIMES reporters are being investigated for possible journalistic irregularities, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned... MORE... Reporters and editors, furious at executive editor Howell Raines, have quietly started a 'work slow-down'...

I can just picture Howell's address opening the meeting:
"We didn't know...(until after he had done it 4685 times and somebody else finally turned him in)"
"We wanted to give him every possible chance....(because we are such bigots we didn't think we could find any other minority who knew how to write)"
"We adhere to only the highest journalistic standards...(unless it involves political attacks on Republicans or Conservatives, in which case we just do what we have to)"
"All our other columnists only write the truth..." (that is, they have not gotten caught yet)"
"We are very sad to see him go....which is why we have been smearing him like nobody's business in order to take the heat off our own editorial incompetence for letting it happen at all)."
To: Notwithstanding
I've always said that when the Times mentions "un-named sources" in its articles, that it really could be no one at all, and rather just the journalist including his or her own fabricated stories/information. This could explain why Rumsfeld is always so pissed off when un-named sources leak information, when in fact, it could be no one at all.

If
The Times were the military, they might call this a "stand down."

Thanx for that e-mail addy. Here is the question I just e-mailed to the forum as a question to Arthur Sulzberger:
Arthur---Other than living through birth, what qualifies an incompetent like you to be the publisher of the NY Times?---P.J.

Wow, it's meltdown time.
Should we send our suggestions to forum@nytimes.com, or would that be too rude?

The Times could go from the greatest Newspaper, to the worst if all of their Journalists are fabricating their stories with dis-information. Just the fact that there are possibly three of them is bad bad news for the Times.

Two social workers were walking through a rough
part of the city in the evening. They heard moans
and muted cries for help from a back alley. Upon
investigation, they found a semi-conscious man
in a pool of blood.
"Help me, I've been mugged and viciously beaten."
he pleaded.
The two social workers turned and walked away.
One remarked to her colleague, "You know the
person that did this really needs help."

At least two more NY TIMES reporters are being investigated for possible journalistic irregularities, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned... MORE... And I bet both those reporters also had their lips firmly planted on Howell's butt cheeks.

They are putting their heads together to figure how to tell liberal lies and maintain an ounce of credibility.
To: Senator Pardek
"Er - that's a hoax."
Actually, it was added at the top of Drudge's main page, after he fleshed out the linked article.

The fact this story was "leaked" is the funniest part of the story.
