Of course the quick answer is no, but upon further thought who will drive all the cabs necessary to keep all the large citys moving?

Should illegal aliens get driver's licenses?Well, the way I see it is that a driver's license is a state document issued to citizens of a state. By issuing a driver's license to illegal immigrants is a defacto granting of state citizenship to that illegal.
By setting that precedent of defacto state citizenship through driver's license issuance then those illegals will/should be granted all other state citizenship privileges such as voting in state and municipal elections etc.
So what's next? It is pathetic sight to watch our country slowly give up its identity and sovereignty just to accomodate politicians in their quest for votes.

To obtain a driver's license don't you have to prove that you legally reside in that state? And, if you legally reside within that state, do you then legally reside within the country?

There really is an Alice In Wonderland quality about even having this discussion. Let us take a moment to put things in the context of the times. At no time, of course, would it be a rational concept to license people who should be deported. What about being a scofflaw should entitle anyone to a driver's license? The idea is silly.
But this is not anytime. We have lately shaken up Governments from the town hall to the Federal in Washington; we are supposed to be under a threat from terrorists who hate and despise us. Will anyone argue that these illegal immigrants do not pose a clear and immediate security risk?
No, I am not suggesting that the Mexican Mestizo is a natural ally of the near Eastern Arab, or a central Asian religious fanatic. But whom would be more easily corruptible into aiding such a terrorist? Would anyone suggest that a middle class American, steeped in the values of George Washington, proud of American ancestry going back generations, is--on average--likely to be as easy to bribe or corrupt into assisting an attack on his neighbors, as someone with no respect for that ancestry or heritage, who sneaked over the border to find work?
The Homeland Security concept is rendered no better than an attempt at satire, so long as we have an open border, and take an indiscriminate view towards immigration.

Make them get a driver's license to ensure they know the rules of the road and can prove insurance coverage. If they are citizens of the U.S., bring a passport or a notarized birth certificate...as U.S. citizens are required to do. If they are not citizens, issue a clearly different appearing license (red striped borders) so they can't use it to illegally apply for services.
I suggested the red striped borders as this is the marking for employee ID cards issued to foreign nationals at my place of employment.
The Motor Voter nonsense is completely unchecked at this time. Non-citizens can register and there is no check to prevent it.

CRIMINAL INVADERS should have no rights.
All money spent to catch and deport them
should be charged to their country.
