MASS GRAVE UNCOVERED |
|
The remains of 15,000 people killed by the regime of Saddam Hussein have been found in mass graves in central Iraq. The graves were discovered last week in the central city of Hilla, site of ancient Babylon, the Iraqi National Congress (INC) said.
The bodies are thought to date back to the Shiite uprising that followed the US withdrawal from Iraq in 1991. "In the last week, four sites have been discovered in Al-Hilla city alone, with approximately 15,000 bodies," said Entifadh Qanbar, a spokesman of the INC. 'Collecting bones' "Citizens are excavating with great sadness and no assistance, collecting bones. "Mothers and fathers are trying to identify their children with ID cards and scraps of clothes that they were last seen in," he said. |

He appealed to the US-led coalition's Office for Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance, and other organisations to help the Iraqi people account for hundreds of thousands still missing. A US army official in Hilla could not confirm the find in the graves, situated around 60 miles south of Baghdad. Torture But a spokesman from the Iraqi National Congress said that over a million people were killed during Saddam's reign. He also said that there was evidence of torture and murder among the 15,000 bodies found in Hilla. US marines at the site said the bones included those of children aged around 10-12. The International Committee of the Red Cross announced at the end of April that it had contacted coalition forces and a number of aid agencies to try to check numerous reports about mass graves in Iraq. |

Meanwhile, the Iraqi people are not getting
this news. When nearly 300 Iraqi exiles, tribal leaders and other would-be politicos met Monday with U.S. officials to plan the nation's future, Iraqis watching television saw a different picture -- street protesters yelling at the delegates, angrily criticizing the Americans and demanding justice for a wide range of grievances. The images arrived courtesy of Al-Alam television, a 24-hour news channel operated by Iran's state TV and radio network.
The broadcasts are a prime example of how Americans, who won the war against Saddam Hussein so decisively, are so far losing the public relations battle to Iran.
Day after day, Al-Alam gives Iraqi viewers its spin on the country's tumultuous political transition, emphasizing the role of fundamentalist Shiite Islam while portraying the fledgling U.S. administration in the country as a disaster for common Iraqis.

Heck. If we had just waited until the UN was through. We wouldn't have had anyone to liberate and all this fussing would be for naught. But where are the WussyMaleDemocraps?

Anyone know what this brings the total tally to? Allegedly Saddam has ordered the deaths of over 1 million people over the past 12 years.

>>Lets see the Liberals ignore this one. <<
Easy.
They won't comment on it. After all, it was the Imperial motives of the U.S.A. that caused them to find these tortured soul's corpses, hence it was wrong and bad. At best they won't mention it at worst, they will say "You found mass graves of Iraqis, many of which who suffered under stifling US Sanctions."
You can't win with these people.

Well, after all, President Bush went to war on the pretense of finding WMD that Saddam claimed didn't exist, and also terrorist connections.....these deaths mean nothing, of course. Remember, Daschole said:
"Im Saddened, Saddened That This President Failed So Miserably At Diplomacy That Were Now Forced To War. Saddened That We Have To Give Up One Life Because This President Couldnt Create The Kind Of Diplomatic Effort That Was So Critical For Our Country."
Funny, though, how Dashcole hasn't said how "saddened" he is over finding remains of hundreds of thousands in mass graves.
