Recently, noted military expert Al Franken taunted Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz with this question, "Clinton's military did pretty well in Iraq, huh?"
Let's review exactly what Bill Clinton did to our military:
709,000 regular (active duty) personnel.
293,000 reserve troops.
Eight standing army divisions.
20 Air Force and Navy air wings with 2,000 combat aircraft and 232 strategic bombers.
19 strategic ballistic missile submarines with 3,114 nuclear warheads on 232 missiles.
500 ICBMs with 1,950 warheads.
Four Aircraft Carriers and 121 surface combat ships and submarines plus all the support bases, shipyars and logistical assets needed to sustain such a Naval force.
Is this country?
Russia? No.
China? No.
Great Britain? No.
France? Wrong again.
Must be the United States? Still wrong.
Give up?
These are the American military forces that were eliminated during the Democratic Administration of Bill Clinton and Al Gore.
Sleep well!
Good point. And correct.
However, the intent of the cuts was not to "cut", per se, but to make the forces more effective and able to take advantage of the technological advances the US had made in the art of warfare.
This, of course, was misinterpreted and corrupted by the Clinton idiots and some of the "star" level commanders that decided that their future lay with worshipping Bill Clinton.
Rather than continue the enhancements that had been in the planning stages before Clinton, the "star" level commanders decided it was more expedient to roll over for Clinton and his minions and not fight for the training funds, the operating funds, all of those things that it takes to ensure a "lean and mean", technologically enabled, warrior force.
Clinton was more interested in his "Love a queer for a day" program (Don't ask, don't tell) crap, than he was in doing the necessary thing to fund the military. And his "advisers" were more interested in kowtowing to the liberal Senators and Representatives, with the hopes of lining their pockets with whatever graft they could divert from the military.
He did the same thing with Arkansas, but it was much easier, since most of the National Guard leadership posts are political kiss-ass positions anyway. Clinton used the NG and state troopers in Arkansas as though they were his personal hand servants and would do much the same with the active military, enabled by the same "star" level commanders.
They know who they are. They are the ones that quake in their boots when Dubya comes close. Dubya knows who they are, too.
I saw the hand-writing on the wall and retired before my career was sullied by my having to serve under the DIRTPOTUS. My vocal opposition to the "Toon kept me in hot water, long before he burst onto the national scene, based upon my experience with him as the Gov of Arkansas and his actions relating to the cuban internees at Fort Chaffee.
Another story; just one more of the sordid saga of the most corrupt, lying, treasonous POS the US has seen in a while.
"I loathe the military."
