A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC

The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.

Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)

I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)

Your turn! Let's see some of FR's Finest Gardens.

Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

I hate to admit that I'm not sure what kind of flower that is. It was a HUGE bloom. I was thinking amaryllis (sp?) but I don't know why.

Oh my, thank you, thank you. I don't have a scanner otherwise I would have put in the picture of the Butterfly Lakes. Or the half moon bridge at Magnolia or, or, or a million other sites as beautiful.

The sheep grazing the lawns at Middleton. Just to drive by there in the early morning and see the mist rising from the the river to cover the fields. The horses grazing...

A state of mind... South Carolina... Smiling Faces and Beautiful place...

LOL! Hi, Amy! Is that your 'Bro' skulking back there? (Ok, just teasing - is that a coyote, or a wolf? LOL)

I love Iris. An old fashioned plant, like Hollyhock and Gladiolas and Lilies - I love the English Garden Effect.

Thank you for your contributions of lovely growing things in a different climate, Jinxie.

It would take a lot of adjustment for me to live without a lot of shade trees and green grass, though....but then, I survived Fairbanks for 3 1/2 years!
LOL

Never say never - - He might send me there..:))

nicknack - why are you giving away my birthday cake from last week?!!

I was saving it for Thin Man, though, so I suppose it's all right to pass it on intact...

All I can say is you and Meekie should form a Recycle Corporation - sheesh....
