A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC
The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.
Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)
I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)
Your turn! Let's see some of FR's Finest Gardens.

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

That's Tennesee fieldstone. Have it on the front of the house and all around the foundation. I took this picture of the wisteria last week not knowing you would present an opportunity today to post it. Sorry about the quality...I'm not a very good photographer and didn't have the light set right.
Daisy Mae just came into my view right before I snapped the picture. I could never get her to pose like that. :)

Hi Aqua. What a lovely yard you have! As always good to see you!

Wow, I didn't realize my anniversary was on the 13th. I guess it was an unlucky day for both of us. :-)
Since you were thoughtful enough to remember my anniversary, instead of mocking this thread I feel compelled to make a contribution.
So here's a lovely tree.....

Arid Plant Designs of Tucson uses many different plants to increase the visual appeal of homes in the desert southwest while maintaining a low water usage rate. This is a picture of Texas Mountain Laurel in crushed granite.
Now, let me see if I can find your pool and tile or adobe...Nice picture! And I have every confidence you will. :)

Oh, thank you for that lovely tree, but could you find one that doesn't take so long to load next time? This one of course was worth the wait, it is so gorgeous! :)

Thank you, dixie sass. I'm glad you survived the guillotine from last night (though I can't figure out how you did). Maybe I was a little harsh. :-)

MO1, WHERE is your CAKE?! WE MUST HAVE CAKE!!! I know he loves my cakes the best, but after spending so many MINUTES creating today's thread, I was just exhausted. Please will somebody bring a cake to go with the balloons and flowers and marching band? As requested .. FOFL

I have some petunias, geraniums and some assorted flowers that I am unsure of. LOL. I have no idea what they are. But my climbing roses are in full bloom. They look so pretty on our back fence. I am going to take Hannah out to plant with me. There is nothing like starting the day with a toddler and some mud.

A rather sad tree it is, Thin Man, like you, needing us to fatten it up.
Do you think we might succeed, making it more like this one at Middleton Gardens, over a thousand years old??
