Probably One of the Most Vicious Anti-Bush Letters You'll Ever Read
Lewiston Sun-Journal ^ | May 12, 2003 | Paul Macri

Posted on 05/12/2003 1:43:25 PM PDT by bogeybob

Hail to the great hyprocrite

Paul F. Macri, Auburn, Maine

President Bush is a great American, a great American hypocrite, that is.

My stomach turned last Thursday night as Bush’s jet landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln and America saw him in a flight suit for the first time since he went AWOL from the Texas National Guard more than 30 years ago.

Don’t those cheering sailors — who truly are brave and did serve their country — know that Dubya conveniently sat out the Vietnam War, not as a protester or Rhodes Scholar, but with a rich boy’s “in” to the National Guard? And he couldn’t even hack that for the length of his sign-up, so he went AWOL his last year to run a Republican campaign in Alabama.

He was never punished, as a regular soldier would have been, and even got an “honorable” discharge.

Karl Rove knows that you can’t lose by underestimating the intelligence of the American voter, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing these pictures soon in campaign ads.

Bush was “unelected” in 2000. Shame on him.

If he’s “unelected” again in 2004, shame on us for having an economic, political and class double standard.

All is forgiven if you went to Yale and then pretended that you were in the military — if your father is a rich Republican and former president of the United States.

Beware being a smart boy from Tennessee who went to Vietnam or a Rhodes Scholar (a true intellectual achievement) from Arkansas. Oh, and also a Democrat.

The AWOL conspiracy theory that fringe leftists advance makes me laugh. It's more ridiculous and baseless than any off the bizarre stories I heard the Right say about Clinton. Bush was a fighter pilot; in contrast, the closest these leftist fruitcakes ever got to that is when they fly passenger and shriek whenever there's mild turbulence.

"Beware being a smart boy from Tennessee who went to Vietnam" Did he ever complete anything that he started? He got out of the Army to go to divinity school after serving less that the 2 years and making E-5 in 11 months. I guess he got that quick promotion because he was such a great reporter for his unit's mimeographed newspaper? The divinity school got him home and out of the service. And they can only talk about Bush's missing training assemblies. I bet Gore had real "smart" grades in school too! I don't by Al Gore's smartness as being academic smart. He grew up with political savy thanks to Poppa and went in on his father's coat tails. Oh heck, I'm to blame for all of this mess, I voted for Perot. But then again, I couldn't see Quale in 2004 anyway.

Whine is right. What's really amazing is people ignore the fact that many air guard units were called up during the Vietnam "war," and Bush could have been in one of those units but happened to not be, which is hardly draft-dodging. The navy reserve units that I worked with acquited themselves well in Vietnam, as did, I'm sure, the air guard. Whine!

The same boy that flunked out of law school and dropped out of divinity school. World class achiever that boy!

And the other "Rhodes Scholar"? Doesn't one have to actually FINISH the program to be touted as such, not asked to leave Oxford because of a date-rape incident? World class achiever that boy!

Neither Wonder Kids ever had to meet a payroll or actually WORK for a living.

I have read editorials that are more critical of the president than that. Democrat's underground website makes that look like a compliment.

According to Tony Snow, Bush was never AWOL. His unit never saw combat. This is a typical falsity the libs like to spread.

I believe there is documentation online that proves Bush was AWOL. His unit may never have seen combat, but he was called up.

He was never punished, as a regular soldier would have been, and even got an “honorable” discharge.

This is the gulf between the wealthy and powerful and the average American citizen. It's a fault of Democrats (like the one from Tennessee) and Republicans. I don't think damning details like this should be swept under the rug. I was actually stunned to see Bush do the flight suit photo op, as all the dirt from his past will soon be dragged out.

I dislike the Bushs. However, according to the United States Constitution Bush was elected in 2000.

"Americans ain't listenin'."

I was listening to this before the election. This stuff is true. I knew it before the election so that's why I wrote in McCain, a true veteran. Silver spoon boys never appealed to me. Not Bush. Not Gore. I don't consider myself or my two Marine kids whiners.

I thought it quite strident. Maybe Henry Waxman 'inspired' him to write. The Sun-Journal liked it enough to feature it on the website!

It is Clinton's solid Rhodes background that should say the most about where his trend of executive orders is headed. Bill Clinton was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University and since becoming president, he has surrounded himself with Rhodes scholars in his administration.

Much has been written about British diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, founder of the Rhodes Scholarship. Briefly, he was dedicated to establishing a socialist one-world government controlled by a small group of elite -- a world view he received from John Ruskin, his socialist professor at Oxford. After making his fortune in diamonds, Rhodes established a secret society in the form of a scholarship to promote this ideal should it fail to materialize before his death. Rhodes biographer Sarah Millin wrote: "The government of the world was Rhodes' simple desire."

In a letter to close friend and publisher W. T. Stead (fall of 1890) Rhodes described his plan: "The key of my idea discussed with you is a Society, copied from the Jesuits as to organization ... an idea which ultimately (leads) to the cessation of all wars and one language throughout the world.... The only thing feasible to carry this idea out is a secret one [society] gradually absorbing the wealth of the world to be devoted to such an object.... Fancy the charm to young America ... to share in a scheme to take the government of the whole world!" Rhodes also told Stead that scholars should possess the following traits: "smugness, brutality, unctuous rectitude, and tact."

Webster's dictionary defines "unctuous" as "oily in speech or manner; plastic; moldable; characterized by a smug, smooth pretense of spiritual feeling, fervor, or earnestness, as in seeking to persuade." It is Clinton's special Rhodesian qualities that gained him the moniker "Slick Willie." Not only in character but in policy may we see that Clinton is Cecil Rhodes' man for all seasons.

Rhodes was intimately linked with the one-world money cabal of his time which was ensconced in New York and England. From this shadowy network of wealthy socialists emerged Mr. Edward Mandell House, close friend and advisor to President Woodrow Wilson who said of House, "His thoughts and mine are one." House penned a schlocky novel entitled, Philip Dru: Administrator - A story of Tomorrow (1912) which he described as "my ethical and political faith." It was recognized as a blueprint for a socialist takeover of America which has been followed nearly to the letter.

Oh, you mean Gore who did go to Viet Nam, with a bodyguard provided thanks to his senator dad, and who never went anywhere near the action. Furthermore, he flunked out of law scool and even divinity school. And the Felon who did not complete his Rhodes Scholarship and went off to visit Soviet Russia instead? Oh, you mean those idiots! Who knew?
