The lower numbers are based on surveys. There haven't been too many but, in the ones that have been done, the numbers seem to jive rather well. Personally, I doubt people would have responded in those surveys that they were gay/lesbian unless they really were.
What's key here is how the internet can provide ammunition to counter the "big lies".
The media have been happy to parrot what their favorite special interest groups tell them. Repeat it enough and the country starts to assume it has validity.
The war in Iraq showed the public how CNN & the NYT would lie to promote their viewpoints. The embedded reporters showed us success and these news organs labeled it failure. They were our own version of the Iraqi Information Minister.

I don't think it's all genetically determined. More an aspect of the mental stresses of the Human Zoo. Human needs are also almost effortlessly met due the advanced stage of civilization, so Darwinary processes aren't going to cull the herd anyway, but they will shape it (e.g. rich guys, hot wives, beautiful children - the Master Race of Money, etc.)

I had bought the 10% figure. Didn't really matter to me since I am not against gays per se, just their politics. But I feel like an idiot for believing the figure in the first place, of COURSE they would make statistics up to support their cause...

The 10% figure was pulled out from Kinsey's "research" whose database was severly skewed due to his non-random sampling.

I abhor what they're doing in the Mass. school system. I think it's wrong and should be changed. But this link contains absolutely no proof that anybody's "recruiting" 6 year olds to become homosexual.

My son is a 4th grader in a public school system and he still doesn't know what homosexuality is. The recruiters had better hurry up or they might lose him.
