[history]
May 12, 2003 -- Disgraced ex-New York Times reporter Jayson Blair was reportedly in a hospital dealing with "personal problems" yesterday, as his former employer published an unprecedented article that detailed widespread plagiarism, ineptitude and outright lying in his career at the Gray Lady. Times sources told Newsweek magazine that Blair, 27, was "in a hospital setting" as of yesterday, less than two weeks after quitting the newspaper upon being exposed as a plagiarist.

They judged him by the color of his skin and not by the content of his character. That never works.
Shame on the Times.

In early 2002, Blair took a two-week break from the paper after receiving a harsh evaluation pointing out excessive reporting mistakes that required published corrections. Very careful wording being used up above. The NY Times is not revealing that Blair was given a 2 week suspension. They aren't saying that he chose to take a 2 week vacation. The only thing that the NY Post can say is that Blair took a 2 week "break" from the Times.
Seems to me that any other reporter would have been fired in early 2002, but the Times just sent him to his room for a couple weeks instead.

It is now fashionable to take cover in the psych. wing of a hospital. This was done by a famous trial lawyer ( J. McDonald
case at Ft. Brag) a decade ago. A great place to escape the heat and garner some sympathy.

Were the two weeks for detoxification? And is that why Blair is in the hospital again now?
To: Celtic Conservative
If drink was the problem, why did Blair pretend to be in D.C. when he was really in Brooklyn?
To: Koblenz
Is Jayson black? How is the man's color relevant to the discussion?

You'd think that an enterprising young journalist would do some good "shoe-leather reporting" and find out exactly what those 2 weeks were for.

"I told him that he needed to find a different way to nourish himself than drinking Scotch, smoking cigarettes and buying Cheez Doodles from the vending machines," said the editor, Charles Strum. No wonder he's in the hospital, those Cheez Doodles can kill you.

"I told him that he needed to find a different way to nourish himself than drinking Scotch, smoking cigarettes and buying Cheez Doodles from the vending machines," is this what the guy is doing at work?
The problems included made-up quotes, lying about being in places used as datelines, and swiping portions of other media's accounts.
he should be able to tag on with one of the democrats for '004

A troll named bxpitbull (do a search on his/her posts -- those that haven't yet been ZOTted) claims to be a friend and NYT coworker of Blair's.
I keep getting shrill, hysterical hate posts from him (or her) in Blair's defense.
I bring them to your attention now before I ask the AM to ZOT this turd completely -- if we can't post full content from the Slimes, their putative employees shouldn't be able to come on here and engage in personal attacks.
