Big thanks to your son and all the other brave warriors for a job well done.
Post any "vanity" stories your son will let you share about their duty any time.

Thank your son for his service. Semper Fi!
I have to say that having lived in Seattle a bit it was
very liberal. 70s.
Buy the best I was EVER treated was when flying back to
RVN and was laid over for 8 hrs in Seattle.
A sgt. at the airport found out we were laid over and called a Family in town, they came and got several of us,
took us home, opened the place to us, let us use their pool,
fed us and had us back intime for our flight.
What wonderful people, something I never forgot.
NOT like the treatment I got at LAX. I wasn't spit on
but the looks were just as bad.Ugly.

"I predict this will get about 1,000 responses by tomorrow..and thanks for what your family has given!"
Let me contribute to that. Our deepest respects and regards to every sailor on the USS Abraham Lincoln, from command on down, for their service in the war with Iraq, as well as providing an unmatchable and historic forum for one of the greatest Presidents in American history. And it was historical.

Having served aboard the USS John F.Kennedy with Marine Corps airwing VMA 533 in 1987-88 I understand what living aboard a carrier is like. My appreciation goes out to you and your son for service to our country. Thanks for the opportunity to say thank you

Contrary to other reports the ship was not stopped. Instead it was "crawling" along at 3 knots. I'd noticed that there wasn't much wind over the deck when bush was giving his speech. However on landing you want as much wind over the deck as you can get, since the plane flies relative to the wind and that measn the speed of the a/c over the deck is lower, and thus the landing is safer.
I thank your son, and all the other sailors and Marines on board the Roosevelt for their service to our country.
