One Democrat moaned yesterday as he watched the cable news programs replay hours of footage of President Bush on the carrier with audio about Democratic complaints.
'Im watching him get high fived and buzz the tower again,' the Democrat said. 'The White House should have thought of this controversy themselves!'
Democratic questions about Bush's jet landing made the front page of USA Today complete with the 'Fly Boy' photo that will have Mike Deaver smiling.
Along these lines, a Senior Administration Official told the ABC Political Unit 'The more time the President talks about defense and security issues, the more he hurts Democrats and reinforces the public's positive perceptions of the Presdient.'
'Do it again, do it again is our message to Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia.'
The Democrats are doing things to make their base happy, but alienating the center of the electorate.

Don't you love it when the Democrats shoot themselves in the foot?
I doubt the Democrats have much base left except for the special interest groups, but those special interest groups hold the purse strings and must be satisfied.

I'm not a fly-boy, but have escorted many carriers on a destroyer. When they land planes on a carrier deck the squadrons alway fly a landing pattern over the carrier then one by one peal off and make two 180° turns to line up with the flight deck. This gives specific (time, distance, and altitude) spacing between the planes, and minimum time spent in the flight pattern. This is a mandatory flght pattern for landing on an aircraft carrier.

Aside from everything else, I love it that the President himself got the experience of flying to the carrier and meeting with the troops. He obviously adored this jaunt!!!! He never looks happier than when mingling with the troops.

" This gives specific (time, distance, and altitude) spacing between the planes, and minimum time spent in the flight pattern. This is a mandatory flght pattern for landing on an aircraft carrier." As you said - they were simply "flying the pattern."

He even cracked a smile about the experience when the press asked him about it.
He LOVED it, and he'd do it again!
And I have NEVER seen the total JOY in human face as I saw his face, and in those sailors on that deck last Thursday.
The whole experience was priceless!

I saw a great pic of W. in the cockpit of the S3 after, right after landing on the Lincoln. Below his window is "George W. Bush, Commander-in-Chief," and all around are little donkey emblems showing the number of victories against the 'Rats. It's a priceless photo.

The Democrats have made a big mistake by extending the 2004 Nominating Primary season so early May 2003-March 2004, there will be liberal lunacy all over the place as they try and kow tow to the wacky liberal voters in their elections!
