Phillip West should resign and run for reelection as a Republican.

"At a time like this, we must have leaders with courage, conviction and a moral compass that will stand the test of time, not change when the political winds blow in a different direction," Stephanie Parker-Weaver, of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, said at a Capitol news conference.

English Translation: "How dare that n*gger try and leave the democRAT plantation?"

Speaking of Mississippi . . .

James Meredith, one of the greatest figures of the civil rights era for his successful attempt to desegregate the University of Mississippi, goes largely unnoticed among "civil rights advocates" these days. This is particularly noticeable during a time like Black History Month, when the lives of the people of that era are examined in great detail.

This little tidbit from a biographical sketch of Meredith explains it all:

Meredith joined the Republican Party and made several attempts to be elected to Congress. He became increasingly conservative and in 1988 accused liberal whites as being "the greatest enemy" of African Americans. He also opposed economic sanctions against South Africa and making the birthday of Martin Luther King a national holiday.

"Her group is asking that West be censured and that a vote of no-confidence be taken in his leadership"

Because he decided to BACK Pickering??? The left's stance on Pickering hasn't changed one bit. Perhaps West looked into it and decided there is nothing wrong with Pickering. Perhaps he was follwing the "political winds" of the radical leftists before, and suddenly found the "courage, conviction and a moral compass" to do the right thing.

Even if West IS just blowing with the political winds, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PICKERING AS A JUDICIAL APPOINTEE. NOTHING! Calling for censure is a little over the top for backing a qualified judicial nominee. From the way the wing nuts are acting, you'd think West had been running aroung spouting off about white n*ggers, selling secrets to China, leaking sensitive material to the press, committing rape or something...of course, doing THAT is FINE of you're a DEMOCRAT.

Meredith at one point went to work for fmr. Sen. Jesse Helms, and was later fired because Meredith disagreed with Helms thinking the Senator had become too LIBERAL. Meredith is utterly ignored these days, along with other noted MS Republican, former Fayette Mayor Charles Evers.
