I think there is a chance of bringing about change, even in a private institution.
This kind of publicity troubles colleges, particularly if they think that it could hurt them with HS students and their families thinking of applying, or with alums upset to see that their faculty has been hijacked by the left.

So what's the remedy? "We have a vacancy in the English department for a registered Republican"?
Nope, lots more simple. We just take a page from the liberal book.
A certain percentage of liberal professors step down to allow conservative professors to take their places and create a percentage that reflects political ratios in society. That is what they have been doing with racial quotas for years with white students losing their place at a university so that the minorities can have them and fulfill the given ratios.

Unless they have a shortage of applicants to the school, I doubt that they're concerned much about this publicity.
Again, I don't understand why conservatives do not establish some fine colleges with a conservative viewpoint. This movement could be led by conservative business and public-sector leaders. I did a search for "conservative colleges" on Google, and didn't come up with much. Unless you want to go to a church-based college, you're pretty much out of luck if you want a school with a conservative viewpoint, faculty, and administration.
Seems to me that there's an opportunity here.

Remember, Asma, diversity of thought is just another kind of diversity. Nyet tovarishch! Everyone looks different, everyone's mama has a different recipe for meatballs, but everyone must think alike!
Diversity of skin color means nothing if everyone thinks the same way.
But you must admit it makes for a better looking class picture.

I think it is also important to remember that private colleges like IC live and die in part on alumni support. Alumni have complained about liberal bias there before, especially after the ubiquitous Professor Barlas wrote an article for the alumni magazine about September 11 that said, in effect, we had it coming. IC probably does not want its alumni donors to realize just how skewed the college's politics are.

Loved this quote
"I think a lot of people would be conservative because it is a pretty wealthy campus."No son, their wealth is what makes them left wing...they feel guilty for living off of their parents money.
