Bennett, in 2001, testified before Congress that he had asked McGinty for a map of the monument four days before the announcement. "She looked me in the eye and said: 'Senator, there is no map. We are not that far along. This is just an idea. There is no map.'"

A map appeared with a New York Times article on Sept. 17, 1996, advancing the announcement the following day.

The woman lied to Congress.

That monument and how it came to be was a dirty deal. The Clinton White House didn't even have the courtesy to inform the Democrat congressman from my district of the monument. The clincher was that a pine tree was cut down on the rim of the Grand Canyon so that the picture of Clinton and Gore would include an unobstructed view of the Grand Canyon. Plus, the monument boundaries are really haphazard, just 20 miles away are rare Indian monuments and artifacts that weren't protected in the monument. A travesty of the law.

Nobody with any honest intentions would consider hiring this fraud.

There's even more to it than this ! The only other known coal seam that would have competed with this one on the world market was owned by (drum roll please) Klinton contributor, Indonesian Riady. The sinkmeister got two for one - pleasing the environazis and a major favor for a heavy contributor.

Is this the area that has the MAGICAL COAL that
Rush (tin-hat) Limbaugh get so excited about?
I don't know about these other details, but
claims of miraculous coal does not help the credibility
of the conservative cause. The US has enough coal, really.

If I remember correctly...

There are only two known low-sulphur coal reserves in the world, one of which is under this land in Utah that was blocked off by Clinton and the other of which is controlled by the Rhiady family of Indonesia(?), who acted as intermediaries between Clinton and the Chinese government, which was making illegal donations to the Clinton campaign.

How's that for payment for fund-raising services performed by the Rhiadys?

Very interesting report.
McGinty is a lying scumbag. (Surprise, surprise - - she's a Clintonite.)
I have already informed my State Senator (Joe Conti) that my vote for him depends on his vote against McGinty's confirmation. That scumbag must be buried.

"the enviros have $500,000 to spend either for us or against us."

Of course Gore was behind a tree in the forest at that moment after drinking too much ice tea, so he didn't know about the money.
