That monument and how it came to be was a dirty deal. The Clinton White House didn't even have the courtesy to inform the Democrat congressman from my district of the monument. The clincher was that a pine tree was cut down on the rim of the Grand Canyon so that the picture of Clinton and Gore would include an unobstructed view of the Grand Canyon. Plus, the monument boundaries are really haphazard, just 20 miles away are rare Indian monuments and artifacts that weren't protected in the monument. A travesty of the law.

Hmm, Lying to Congress...You know during the 70s' & 80s', didn't some Pres. aides go to prison for this. ABCNNBCBS still screams bloody hell to the GOP for this...while RATs do far worse and smile...knowing ABCNNBCBS will cover-it up...shills...

How well I remember this scam and of course we took note that the announcement took place at the Grand Canyon. I will never understand how people could not see through this vaudeville act of an administration, which added criminal elements to their political acts.
From the article:
At a March 26 state hearing, Sen. White grilled McGinty on the effort by the White House to conceal the announcement from the Utah congressional delegation. White also hammered away at a campaign contribution from environmental groups that apparently hinged on the deal going through.
This Mary Jo White sounds terrific. Remember how things got done with this crew. As Johnny Chung informed us, "White House like subway. You put token in."
