The woman lied to CongressMcGinty, who had worked for Vice President Al Gore, had sent Gore a handwritten note that said "the enviros have $500,000 to spend either for us or against us." She was talking about political campaign contributions that would later be spent as soft money on behalf of the Clinton-Gore ticket. The Escalante Monument was at or near the top of the "enviros'" list.
Looks like she was involved in bribery too.
