[history]
Women need to defend themselves, especially single women or those with husbands overseas. And the media has a responsibility to discuss honestly the issue of gun ownership. The John Walsh Show (search) on NBC may have dealt a blow (4/29) to both goals by "ambushing" three women who agreed to discuss their gun ownership and advocacy on air.

Liberals are against Conservatives having guns, simply because some day conservatives will have to defend themselves from liberals. Sound radical? Just wait and see.

I propose that a group of FReepers with daughters of the appropriate age get together and petition the GSUSA to establish a rifle shooting activity badge, much as the BSA has Rifle Shooting and Shotgun Shooting merit badges. Wouldn't it be a gas if they got a few hundred letters on the topic?

I personally don't have a daughter of the appropriate age. I suggest this because I am a (BSA) Scouter and have stood behind my son while watching him earn the Shotgun and Rifle Shooting MBs. It occurred to me that doing this would a) be of great benefit to the girls, and b) discomfit the GSUSA tremendously.

The GSUSA won't do it. As far as I'm concerned, they are a lost cause.
My daughter joined BSA Venturing the day after she turned 14. She LOVES it - just in the year she's been a member they have been skiing, hiking/camping trips, a High Ropes course, and they're going to Philmont this summer. A cycling/camping tour and a whitewater kayak trip are planned for this summer as well. Boundary Waters canoe expedition is in the talking stages.
When she was in the Girl Scouts, neither the leaders nor the other girls were the least bit interested in any outdoor activities. Camping was right out . . . so just forget about . . . gasp . . . EEEEEvil guns! She hated it and so did I.

The Girl Scouts are a much more Socialist oganization than the boy scouts. I don't know the background of the organization, but when my daughter joined I was shocked by the over the top "new age" nonsense in their books and handouts. I was actually very relieved when she quit after a year. They do make great cookies, though.

petition the GSUSA to establish a rifle shooting activity badge Never happen, the Girl Scouts are so feminized that God has been removed from their oath and lesbians run the outfit.
To: Jack Black
They do make great cookies, though They don't make the cookies...they only reap the enormous profits from their sale.
I won't buy them because I'd be supporting anti-Christian efforts.

Walsh claims to support the Second AmendmentHe is a liar with regards to his claim. I have personally heard the man support the gun grabbers goals of guns in the hands of police and military only.
Listening to Walsh about protecting ones family is analogious of listening to Rosie Ohdoughnuts about dieting. BTW....Nounomen had some good Teee Veeee debate tips on the SAS/PBS thread you posted this AM. I learned .

John Walsh is so "cops can do no wrong" that it is almost sickening.
To: Squantos
The thing is, liberals like Walsh who don't have a clue either as to why the 2nd Amendment was written or what it means honestly don't think they're lying. To them, "supporting" the 2nd Amendment and believing that firearms should only be allowed in the hands of employees of the FedGuv is a perfectly consistent stance.
