Remember the missile test that mysteriously went awry a few weeks ago? I have a feeling that Korea's missile program is going to meet with many accidents in the future.

It's getting pathetic. His empty threats and overstatements. He is as big a delusionary liar as the boastful Arabs in saying 'all infidels will be wiped out Allah willing', and yet they throw down their weapons and run at the mere sight of Coalition Forces.
Expect more of this vitriol. KJI is most afraid of a domestic coup d'etat. This is more internal-oriented PR rather than anything particularly directed at the United States.
Their war planners have analyzed things and KNOW they will be defeated, and defeated BIG TIME. They know that as they try to escape to China, and oppressed North Korean people will halt all of their movements and hang each one of them from the backs of truck cranes for their years of despotic rule.

" The missile defense is exactly meant for states like NK, which even by 2010 will have no more than 10-20 ICBMs. China on the other hand could have hundreds. " I'm not so sure that Korea is the real target of that program. I tend to think that it won't be allowed to develop the capability that would require strategic ABM systems. Sure, China could likely overwhelm what we've announced that we're developing. But would they??? Are they really going to launch dozens at us at once, knowing our response?
It seems more likely that they'd attempt to keep us from interfering with a blockade of Taiwan by threatening their use. Launching one or two might be a credible threat and wouldn't necessarily result in their removal from the world community. Threatening to kill tens of millions here, obviously resulting in the deaths of many more there than exists on the island, would probably be seen as too aggressive for even old European nations to tolerate if they took it seriously.

Another thing I wonder about: the article said they are POINTED at the USA; I mean, they could be laying on the ground, pointed at the USA, right? :-)

Interesting analysis.
Has word gotten out that the N. Korean opposition has anywhere near the resources to topple the nutcase KJI?
As KJI has progressive grown more belligerent and reckless in his rhetoric, has Tokyo accelerated its preparedness for "defensive" measures, or taken it as a mere joke? And as far as you can tell, what does the "Average Hideki" have to say about it?

Is it too much to hope that San Francisco and Berkeley are targeted?
To: elfman2
The main point is that China unlike NK is someone you can probably sit down and talk with. They have real-world interests to speak of and there's only so far they'll go to undermine US interests.
Even the statement about nuking LA may have been taken out of context, IMO. The Chinese general was simply gloating over the fact that they now had a nuclear deterrent, which they didn't have during the first two Taiwan crises in the 50s and resulted in them being threatened by nuclear retaliation. Historically their nuclear arsenal has served a minimalist purpose of ensuring that we don't have the freedom to meddle in what they claim to be "internal affairs", and that probably won't change, only they'll have to build a lot more ICBMs now that NMD has the go-ahead.

*If* this were true, why in hell would we be wasting our damn time in Iraq?
And I hope one or two of our nuclear subs are parked just off the breakwater from North Korea.
After all these threats, if these sons of bitches so much as launch a sky rocket, on monster dragon day, I say we light um up.
To: Jumper
Lets see, they launch them and take out California/Washington and solve the Mexican immigration problem.... Go ahead, make my day. Once they solve our economic problem, we can solve their's!LOL

Now we know where Trafficant's wig went. He sold it to Kim Jong Il to raise money for his legal defense fund.

Is it too much to hope that San Francisco and Berkeley are targeted?Hey, I know, lets hope the first warhead goes right through your roof and kills off all your family, and the rest of Massachusetts.
Isn't this fun, wishing for death and destruction on Americans?
Freaking idiot....

Don't they (China) understand, after Iraq, the liability he is to them? It is difficult to be objective when you are up to your ass in alligators.

N. Korea has '300 nukes' of which 100 is pointed to the USA.
!
LOL! I don't know what has infected their brains but it must be pretty rotten. I don't believe they have ANY nukes at all. They certainly didn't test any, and that is the definative proof of a nuclear stockpile.
