He caught the four wire. That's a failing grade.

Again No (but maybe you did not read my post to you yet), the preferred wire is a three wire, but your grade depends on more than your wire. It includes your line-up and approach as well. Also certain conditions will perturb even a perfect approach and lead to catching another wire. A light S-3 with its large wing span tends to float as it crosses the deck. Floating from three to four is not uncommon.

The one you really dont want is the one wire. That means your short and more likely to ramp strike. You can also have a perfect landing and have the hook bounce over the wire, leading to a four or even a go around.
