Americans Marry Russian Women. What For?

American men use Russian women for self-affirmation. The latter seem to be liking this fact

Marriages between Russian women and American men are very successful and harmonious, Olga Makhovskaya, the senior research assistant at the Psychology Institute in Russia's Academy of Sciences says. When an American man switches from the model of American family where husband and wife are partners equal in rights to the model of an Orthodox family, he thus raises his own significance. In Orthodox families men are given more authority and are more respected. It is certainly an advantage for a man and raises his social and psychological status. In a word, American men seem to have tired of the feminism propagated by American women, and it is frequent that they seek Russian women to start families.

Russian wives in America give up the traditional model of the Russian Orthodox family which relieves them of a heavy burden of responsibility and gives a chance to have a normal life in a family where the range of responsibilities is more definite for them: children, family affairs and housekeeping. At that, Russian women enjoy more attention and support from husbands.

As psychologists say, now Russian men undervalue the essence of family. The whole of the burden, housekeeping, upbringing of children, earning of money are shifted onto women. And, at the time when Russian women have so much responsibilities, their husbands spend their time dozing in front of TV sets in desperate attempts to find out the meaning of life and to understand the truth of the universe. They merely disregard everyday problems that are essential for their families as they consider the above mentioned idle thinking to be of higher importance.

That is why, as Olga Makhovskaya thinks relations in families between Russian and American partners are more harmonious. Each party gets what it wants to have. Husbands get authority and status, and wives are given, in exchange, peace in family and well-being. "Families of this kind where husbands are Americans and women are Russians prove to be long-living, as the roles in the family are clearly distributed and the mechanism operates good, although these are mixed families. In such families each of the couple is ready to make concessions and on the whole, wonderfully performs the role."

In addition, as researches held by Olga Makhovskaya reveal, marriages between Chinese men and Russian women are also very successful. ?There are tens of thousands of such marriages in Russia's Primorye region in the Far East. Chinese men are hard-working, they don't abuse in alcohol drinking and bring their wages home. In a word, they have lots of advantages by contrast with Russian men." It is sad, but the researches don't mention for whom Russian men suit wonderfully.

This one is so easy to figure out, it's the same reason there are a lot of American men marrying Asian women.

The #1 quality men look for in women, is beauty. The #1 quality women look for in men, is wealth.

American men are attractive to women from Russia and Asia because even an average American income can afford lifestyles that overwhelming majority of men in those countries can't provide.

And American men wants these women because there is a finite supply of attractive women in America, and mostly taken by the wealthy and/or attractive males. So the average looking middle class guy has the choice of either the average looking middle class American women, or the really attractive girls from Russia/Asia, and guess who wins out.

One thing which struck me was that country had the highest percentage of Europeans of any Latin American country.

What is wrong with this? Nothing! There are many reasons for the high divorce rate in America, and the above seems to be part of the answer why. A husband without any real authority or respect from his wife is doomed to an unhappy marriage or divorce. The above description sounds similar to the Biblical role models that God commanded for husbands and wives>>

I agree with you on the larger comment that this is a Biblical model that yields happy results, but your off the mark a bit by pointing out that it is women that drop their roles(respecting their husbands, etc). I know plenty of couples where the men are eager to get their hands on that second income and encourage if not manipulate their wives into working, not to mention the men who are lazy and slovenly and spend no time being a leader to their family even if their wives are home. They prefer instead the computer and the tv. So before we blame women for dropping the ball, let's also talk about how men have dropped the ball too. Women being cynical and all that did not happen in a vacuum. If you guys have the authority and want it, then for God's sake, take it back and start behaving like you deserve it by being leaders! I have seen woman after woman respond when their husband's turned to the Lord and took on their rightful role(and this is not some domineering husband w/control on everything, but a man who is the leader in his family, particularly spiritually, and who loves his wife as Christ loved the church(not his computer, tv, car, etc). They were men who stepped into the role of mutual submission and Christlike love.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm so sick of the whining of men on Freerepublic. So many of them are so willing to blame women for all the ills of the country and family, yet they won't address just how pathetic men act nowadays too. How far from the Biblical model many men are.

It is a good deal if an average guy gets a pretty Russian girl. The problem comes later after she learns English, and watch Oprah. Then she turns into a high mentainance bitch. The little student starts to talk back to the teacher? Takes half of his money, and trades him to a better looking American man!

You know, something you said here has me thinking on another topic. We live in an area with wonderfully conservative schools--some of the best in the area to boot academically, but I'm still inclined to homeschool. Part of the reason is I really believe that shrill b*tch will be prez someday and I fear for EVERY school then with what she will do. Even the most conservative and best I think will look more like the liberal model once she's done with them. I see her pushing out any last bit of power local school boards and parents have on their schools in favor of NEA ideals. I don't see homeschool being outlawed, but severly restricted and maybe even "capped" where only existing homeschooling families may finish up(sorry, I don't have a lot of trust in this woman at all). On that same note, we are also remodeling our home as we would like, paying the note down in order to refinance for a lower payment, and saving money like the dickens in preparation for possible retirment when and if she comes in office. We just don't want to be anywhere near a place of business when she takes her place as queen, I mean president.

That a risk everyone takes in marriage, either party can improve themselves during the marriage and then opt to "trade in" for a better spouse, it's no different from the guy who is poor, marries, become a successful businessmen, and decides he wants the pretty girl rather than his middle-aged wife

Or maybe because the bride won't accepted by family? Black-white interracial marriages are still really frowned upon this country by black and white both (I think more so by blacks now) White American men are still less likely to marry a black American female.

Many american women are so un feminine, due to PC- ERA-Cosmo-Oprah exposure that men here just don't like them. That, and their superficiality and empty heads. not all women, just most. And if you go into the urban areas, it is worse.

I agree. My father and mother were together for over thirty five years following this model. My mother was a mail order bride of sorts. She was a West Indian from Trinidad, of african/spanish descent. My father was a first gen. of Italian immigrant parents. Not only was she gorgeous, but my mother was very respectful. My mother would have his house shoes ready when he came home from a long haul. Dinner and my sister and I looking very neat. My mother also dressed extremely well and always carried herself with the utmost respect. Many foreign women, esp. from Roman Catholic latin countries, or old world British colonies are like that. Not as much though in my opinion.
