Americans Marry Russian Women. What For?

American men use Russian women for self-affirmation. The latter seem to be liking this fact
Marriages between Russian women and American men are very successful and harmonious, Olga Makhovskaya, the senior research assistant at the Psychology Institute in Russia's Academy of Sciences says. When an American man switches from the model of American family where husband and wife are partners equal in rights to the model of an Orthodox family, he thus raises his own significance. In Orthodox families men are given more authority and are more respected. It is certainly an advantage for a man and raises his social and psychological status. In a word, American men seem to have tired of the feminism propagated by American women, and it is frequent that they seek Russian women to start families.
Russian wives in America give up the traditional model of the Russian Orthodox family which relieves them of a heavy burden of responsibility and gives a chance to have a normal life in a family where the range of responsibilities is more definite for them: children, family affairs and housekeeping. At that, Russian women enjoy more attention and support from husbands.
As psychologists say, now Russian men undervalue the essence of family. The whole of the burden, housekeeping, upbringing of children, earning of money are shifted onto women. And, at the time when Russian women have so much responsibilities, their husbands spend their time dozing in front of TV sets in desperate attempts to find out the meaning of life and to understand the truth of the universe. They merely disregard everyday problems that are essential for their families as they consider the above mentioned idle thinking to be of higher importance.
That is why, as Olga Makhovskaya thinks relations in families between Russian and American partners are more harmonious. Each party gets what it wants to have. Husbands get authority and status, and wives are given, in exchange, peace in family and well-being. "Families of this kind where husbands are Americans and women are Russians prove to be long-living, as the roles in the family are clearly distributed and the mechanism operates good, although these are mixed families. In such families each of the couple is ready to make concessions and on the whole, wonderfully performs the role."
In addition, as researches held by Olga Makhovskaya reveal, marriages between Chinese men and Russian women are also very successful. ?There are tens of thousands of such marriages in Russia's Primorye region in the Far East. Chinese men are hard-working, they don't abuse in alcohol drinking and bring their wages home. In a word, they have lots of advantages by contrast with Russian men." It is sad, but the researches don't mention for whom Russian men suit wonderfully.

Difference is, American women as I seen act like men. At work this ok, at home it is not. If I want male like companionship, I go see male friends, not girlfriend. Many American women also confused on what in life wanted and to much pain to date. Germans similar. That is of personal experience.

An acquaintance of mine works at a local pharmacy with a Russian woman married to a local man. They've been happily married for about 8-10 years. She was quite accomplished in her homeland - music and art - but works as a cashier here. They seem quite happy. She's just a regular girl - if you've seen some of the TV specials or web ads, those 'ladies' are made up and dressed up like, well, hookers - even, apparently, the nice ones, just to catch the eye of some lucky guy. I suspect there are plenty of 'regular' ladies lost in the shuffle, overshadowed by the ones on the take.

Considering what we have read concerning Russian Olympic athlete women, what is so hard about understanding how homosexual men who are forbidden from marrying their own kind, opt for the next best choice?

I have met several PhDs and other professionals who have wonderfully eye magnet Russkia wives. Averaging ~15 y. younger, each wife is either an M.D. or PhD, blonde or lava aurburn, at least 5'7", athletic, cultured, affectionate
AND FRUGAL.
These guys are veterans of American divroce court. They met the ladies through work and travel, and dazzle the girlkis with honor and sober good ol' American courting - even after the wedding.
I had a crush on on young married economist from Moscow who was so polished that she could pass herself off as a farm girl from Ohio, fluent in French and Spanish as well. She was a competent mother and devoted wife.
I have dated far too many incompetent mothers and undevoted ex-wives who caved in or got lazy foregoing earning an education with which they could be independent if needed, without being bitter toward their man or purported less than a man, aka <$5,000 takehome/month.
Education enriches one's lives; there are millions of well educated, eligible Euro-women of child bearing age throughout the former CCCP/Eastern Block who have an edge when it comes to "old fashioned" family home life. Many even don't hate America, like those ClintonDNC-Politburo comfort women on our East and Left Coast do. The corruption of the soccer mom generation had driven and is still driving men who want one wife who wants her husband for better or worse - and the daughters of CCCP have lived through the worst.
IMHO, I can speak for some unmarried and temporarily married men.
We want a woman who understands that we want a woman who shall remain all woman all the time for their husbands and mother to their children for the rest of their lives.
What 21st Century American man would not want a dirty blonde 5'10" pediatrician with a civil engineering PhD, Black belts, full-figured figure skater, KGB arms and demolition training, with a sexy New Europe accent in her fluent 19th Century Oxford class English lilt who eagerly prepares for ~4 children and is happy signing a pre-nup while taking out a $1,000,000 life ins. policy on her life? Returning to the simple life requires a woman who can do more than blow out the candle.

If married couples (working wives) would wisely invest all of their wife's income living only his takehome, the men could retire by 40-45 or so, with time to earnestly seek out their first trophy mistress, (best done in no-fault/community property states).
Instead, young working women want BMWs, clothes to match, and their own 401ks. Go figure.

should we be cynical that love comes down to one's bottom line???
Ah, yes reminds me of a line of poetry by I believe Bukofsky,
"....Her ass looked like the bottom of heaven."

That's a cultural difference. Young Eastern European women, God bless 'em all, ALL dress like hookers--or like hookers would in the United States. They're just looking cute in the culture of their own people. I've lived in E. Europe for a stretch and many E. European women don't understand why American women choose to look so 'frumpy' (altho they are very jealous of our prolonged youth, thanks to exercise, watching diet, and no smoking).

I had noticed the, uh, unique styles, but all very feminine to be sure. But in some of the photos (a male friend had looked into the Russian bride site at one point), it was clear that some of the ladies took the hair and clothing to the next level - dressed up vs whoa! Since you've spent time in East Eur., you've probably heard the term 'blondinka' to describe the most frou-frou among them then. On my last vacation, we were on mass transit in an amusement park and sitting across from us was a very American man, his toddler son, and his very Blondinka wife. Thick Russian accent, she was platinum blonde with a dressy denim outfit (no doubt her version of casual) and high heels, nicely made up and a beautiful manicure. It was very quaint.

I'd like to make a few comments from an Orthodox perspective (btw, i'm a convert to Orthodoxy but am an American). I've been around Russians for about 25 years; mostly in church settings.
1. Pravda, being a commie publication, knows nothing about Orthodoxy or even Christianity. I'm sure the publication still has some old time party members hanging around to harangue the masses with marxist/leninist claptrap. The author, Olga Makhovskaya, probably considers herself Orthodox, but in fact knows very little about the church, beyond getting her kids baptized.
2. Yes, times have changed in Russia, but communism completely destroyed the church. Many recent Russians emigrees that have come to U.S. don't know the differnce between a saint, an apostle or even an Old Testament prophet. What the author calls the Russian Orthodox Church is in fact an organization that was created by Stalin and whose bishops were all hand picked by the KGB. The heierarchs (bishops, metropolitans and the patriarch) are all pretty much corrupt men. For those interested, there is a branch or the Russian Orthodox Church which declared autonomy when the commies took over. This church (Russian Orthodox Church Abroad) has kept the traditions of Orthodoxy and its bishops are humble pious men.
3. Most Russian women who come over to the US will not go to an Orthodox church, as they view the Moscow Patriarchate as just another extension of the government (as it was under godless communism).
4. I caution those of you inclined to get a Russian bride to consider the cultural differences. Russians don't think like we Americans and in order to have peace you will have to make accomodations.
5. Marriage in the Orthodox church comes down to two basic admonitions from St. Paul: a. Women, obey your husbands. b. Men, honor and love your wives.
6. If the woman you are interested in is somewhat religious and wants to go to a Russian Orthodox (real one, not the commie fake) you should probably get to know something about the faith before getting married.
Regards,
To: RussianConservative
Many American women also confused on what in life wanted and to much pain to date. Indeed. I think many American women will find that their relationships are being increasingly outsourced to Russia, Asia and Latin America.

There's something to be said for having a foreign wife who is undemanding and lives to please a man. Many American men find the notion a turn-on. Its a situation different from dating American women, who seem self-centered and in search of a man who will please them. No wonder the foreign brides thingy has become popular with men who have given up hope of finding their true love at home.
