An acquaintance of mine works at a local pharmacy with a Russian woman married to a local man. They've been happily married for about 8-10 years. She was quite accomplished in her homeland - music and art - but works as a cashier here. They seem quite happy. She's just a regular girl - if you've seen some of the TV specials or web ads, those 'ladies' are made up and dressed up like, well, hookers - even, apparently, the nice ones, just to catch the eye of some lucky guy. I suspect there are plenty of 'regular' ladies lost in the shuffle, overshadowed by the ones on the take.

That's a cultural difference. Young Eastern European women, God bless 'em all, ALL dress like hookers--or like hookers would in the United States. They're just looking cute in the culture of their own people. I've lived in E. Europe for a stretch and many E. European women don't understand why American women choose to look so 'frumpy' (altho they are very jealous of our prolonged youth, thanks to exercise, watching diet, and no smoking).
