I agree with you. I couldn't believe that President Bush had to announce the ME roadmap (trap for the Israeli's) -- seemed he was not thrilled and it was done to keep Blair on board if I were guessing!

It's from the Guardian, and therefore crap. No world leader could possibly have time to run or prepare for the war and speak to Clinton at the same time.

I can't believe Drudge buys into the wet dreams of one of the most left wing newspapers in the UK.

Regards, Ivan

but freepers that support Blair would be supporting a Clinton lover!

Life is very simple for you, isn't it TLB?

No subtlety or nuance.........no analytical thought or in-depth reasoning........no struggle to understand the realities of life.

Is it possible for you to grasp that thinking conservatives can appreciate and respect Tony Blair's strength in standing up against Saddam, and standing with the President and America, and still recognize that he is a social liberal, and not like that side of him?

You obviously save a lot of time and energy by having all the answers in a few catch phrases, and never having to think things through.

Does it say who was the initiator of the meetings? Maybe Blair was being courteous. I've never wished physical harm to someone, but I would throw a party and dance in the street if something happened to BC.

Perhaps we should wait until we see the actual article before we go off halfcocked.

That's what we do best on Free Republic... get a little information based on "unnamed sources" and build ourself one helluva conspiracy theory.

Blair was a lion. No headline on Drudge is going to make me change my mind.

Things really are simple really all of life's problems have simple answers and solutions.

As for Blair it is really simple, if you open you're eyes and see the truth.

Bottom line is We did not need Blair to win the war against Saddam. Without Blair the war would of been finished last October. Think of how different many things would be right now if that was a fact. Not to mention the Children's prison would of been liberated 6 months ago and how many deaths that Saddam caused over there the last 6 months?

Facts are facts Blair is a socialist rat.

I am not saying I don't appreciate the things that Blair and the British soldiers did to help us, but they were not needed.

So what?

Bill Clinton is Tony Blair's friend.

That does not discount the truth that Tony Blair was a lion.

So what?

They talk on the phone.

That does not discount the truth that since 9/11, Tony Blair has befriended this country.

I would gladly be Tony Blair's friend. We would not agree on politics... I would not go to dinner if Bill Clinton was on the guest list, but I could easily be Tony Blair's friend.

I could easily believe that x42 offered the advice ..... but I don't believe Blair followed it.

I also don't believe Blair sought it out.

You can bet this is a clinton leak in order to hitch his disgusting wagon to the victory train.

The meeting is expected to discuss ways of moving beyond national interests by forming an international social democratic agenda.

Mandelson sets out to revive 'Third Way'

MINISTERS and senior Labour figures will today begin drafting a route map to help Tony Blair to navigate a political landscape made still more hazardous by the global ructions over war in Iraq.
They will be joined by around 100 centre-left thinkers from across Europe and the developing world for a two-day meeting in London convened by Peter Mandelson, one of the Prime Minister’s closest allies.

Their conclusions will form the basis of an agenda for Mr Blair’s Progressive Governance conference for world leaders in July, at which he intends to breathe new life into the Third Way philosophy first formulated with Bill Clinton almost ten years ago.

snip

“Progressives have to produce modern prescriptions to match. A reheated state socialism has nothing to offer people in an increasingly interdependent but also increasingly individualised world. This is an opportunity for the progressive politics we believe in to restate its relevance. In the meantime it will demonstrate a new unity of purpose after the centre-left divisions over Iraq.”

Senior government figures present at today’s meeting will include Patricia Hewitt, the Trade Secretary, Ian McCartney, the Labour chairman, Tessa Jowell, the Culture Secretary, David Miliband, the Schools Minister, and Andrew Adonis, Downing Street’s policy director.

They will be joined by Wouter Bos, the Dutch Labour leader, Antonio Vitorino, the EU’s commissioner for justice and home affairs, as well as prominent politicians and strategists from from the US, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Germany, South Africa and Ethiopia.

One of the key issues being debated today will be global governance in the aftermath of the Iraq war, which was bitterly opposed by countries such as France, Germany and Russia. The meeting is expected to discuss ways of moving beyond national interests by forming an international social democratic agenda.

Nah he would never support this BS.....(will he)

So, what's the consensus? Did the meeting happen or not? If it did, why did Blair see a need to keep it secret?

Todd, I believe I asked you not to ping me, because I cannot seem to get reasonable discussion from you. No one says that Blair is a conservative; some, including myself, appreciate that he stood with the USA when we needed a friend from overseas. Get over it, please.

Why would Blair seek the advice of such a buffoon?

He wouldn't. Clinton was clearly making the rounds trying to undermine the Bush administration. Blair may have listened but clearly did not take his "advice".
