What is the psychological reason why these lunatics seem to always murder their children during their suicidal episode?

and earlier today......

Student Allegedly Kill Principal, Self

Police said a school principal and student are dead after a shooting at a York County high school.

Witnesses said a 14-year-old student allegedly shot the principal of Red Lion Area Junior High School in York County and then turned the gun on himself around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, just before the start of school.

The principal, Gene Segro, (pictured, left) was taken to York Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Eighth-grader Grant Becker was in the cafeteria when the shooting began.

"It was a gun. It looked like a pistol from where I was standing and it was very loud. It was a very loud pistol. I saw him fire and then I ran out and I heard a second shot and then after that I was too far away to hear it again," Becker said. "There was a lot of screaming, and a lot of people yelling and a lot of people saying to run, and you looked for the exit that was closest to you, and you were going full speed and everyone was just flooding out the exits."

Police found more than one handgun was found on the teen. He had evidently brought them to school in his bookbag.

"It's pretty earth shattering. I know Red Lion's system is one of the best as far as other adults getting into the school system. I just can't see that this would ever happen. Unfortunately, I know that there isn't anything to safeguard children bringing things to school," parent Susan Becker said.

Students from the junior high school have been taken to the senior high school. Some students were taken to Edgar Moore Elementary School. Students from Edgar Moore, the high school and junior high were sent home at 10 a.m.

This is not the first attack at this school district. On Feb. 2, 2001, William Stankewicz entered North Hopewell Winterstown Elementary School with a machete. The attack injured 10 kindergarten students, two teachers and the school principal, whose hands were slashed. Stankewicz was sentenced to spend a minimum of 132 years and a maximum of 264 years in prison.

Because sometimes the parents are killing the children to get back at the other parent, or they feel if they are going to commit suicide that their kids will suffer, so the kids have to die as well.

In every single case I've bothered to check, the father is being ousted by the wife. I had a "friend of a friend" do this. His wife found a boyfriend and had him removed from the home with an "ex-parte without cause." The boyfriend moved in with her and the two daughters. This guy was crushed and telling stories of the girls being sexually abused by the "boyfriend." To cut the story (there's lots of interesting detail), the guy went into the home and killed his daughters, and then himself.

He was wrong to do so, but if I had to go through what he did, I could imagine that it would be possible for me to do the same (I have three daughters).

In his own "semi-selfish" way, he saw it as "saving" his daughters.

...or because they consider themselves to be so pathetic at that point that they figure no one would care if they just "off'd" themselves. They make more impact with a shocking statement.

You have not heard the whole story. Believe me, if you did, you'd be able to at least imagine where his head was.

Family court is a seriously evil thing!

The mentality seems to be "if I can't have them, nobody will." It's also a vicious and demented way to punish the other spouse for real or imagined wrongs.

What did he go through that might approach rationalizing him killing his daughters and then himself? Sounds like he would sooner go after the boyfriend than off his children. Creepy subject.

Father, 3 children found dead

The Associated Press
NOKESVILLE, Va.

A man killed his three young sons before taking his own life, police said.

The bodies were found late Wednesday night after neighbors called police and asked them to check on the children, said Sgt. Kim Chinn of the Prince William County police.

Chinn identified the father as Robin Edwards, 37. The children were Bradley Edwards, 9; Ryan Edwards, 7; and Kyle Edwards, 5, she said.

The bodies were found in a home in Nokesville. Chinn said police believe the slayings and suicide happened Wednesday afternoon.

Chinn said no motive has been determined in the slayings.

I would go so far as too say that several billion people did not kill anyone today. Might we assume from that, that Anne Frank was right, and humanity ain't really that bad.

Perhaps the news can remind the us of that from time to time. Thank you, HLL, of reminding us of that today.

Correction:

Several million people did not kill anyone today. Enough millions that they added up to billions. Which equates to an even bigger number if you add up all the days that all the billions of people didn't kill anybody.

In a somewhat related story involving big numbers, a really hugh number of people think that the Dixie Chicks suck. This is another trend that will continue.......
