You know I had been deer hunting for 10 years before I bagged my first buck. I knew the woods were full of them but I was never where they were. By our media standards there are no deer in the woods. Most people have never seen a baby pigeon, but they do exist.

The UN looked for 8 years for stuff that Saddam admitted he possessed. Now they expect us to find them in 30 days.

"No weapons detected at 80 sites on top 100 list" This headline could just as easily read:
20% Of Most Likely WMD Sites Remain To Be Searched
And the White House appeared to be trying to scale back expectations that weapons of mass destruction will be found. The Ministry of Truth is on the job, I see. "Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Therefore Oceania was always at war with Eastasia."
Eu-phoo-isms such as "scaling back expectations" (rather than its more accurate version, "kicking sand over past lies") used to be more subtle.

("War is the health of the State." -- Randolph Bourne)
[...] teams are now setting aside the search list and deciding where to go more on the basis of new information from Iraqis, three defense officials said yesterday. Well, so much for all of that -- how did Powell describe it before the U.N.? -- intelligence from highly placed sources that could not be revealed lest they be compromised. More lies, doubly compounded. Seems like a lifetime ago that a worthwhile former general was forced into such public mendacity, doesn't it?
Between this and the FBI and CIA dropping stitches in their anti-terrorist blanket-weaving before Nine Eleven, just what the hell are we getting for the money poured into them? And without oversight as to details on Capitol Hill?

Freedom is not good enough for some.Freedom is not the original reason we went to war against Iraq, if you recall.
